Rose & Jake’s Tipi Festival Themed Wedding at East Mersea Hall in Essex
1. How & why did you choose this venue?
I always wanted an outside wedding in the summer. The venue has changed multiple times. My sister-in-law told us about East Mersea Hall, and we fell in love with it. Especially as we could have our tipi festival-themed wedding on the grounds.
2. What was the theme? Why?
We’re going for the Festival/boho theme with a laid-back vibe. My dress is lacey with the flower girls in a similar style, my daughter Mia, has a dress like mine. I and Mia had flower crowns. Wildflowers bouquets, different coloured ribbons on chairs and I’ve made ribbon wands for the flower girls. Face paint/glitter lady in the evening. Live band. The lads are in pale blue trousers, off-white shirts, floral ties and navy braces.
3. How did you choose your suppliers?
Our other suppliers were mainly recommendations from friends.
4. Did you DIY?
A lot of the decorations were made by hand so Pinterest was the go-to for supplies and how-to guides. All of the table decorations were made by hand except for the little wood cut-out names. The baby’s breath on the tables was sprayed with paint, the bottles for the candle were recycled alcohol bottles. The signs were boards we hand-painted. I made my wedding invitation by hand, 3 times as it has been postponed twice.
5. How did the planning work?
We didn’t have any help planning the wedding, we originally had planned to have it in 2020 and we all know what happened that year. Then when we replanned it for 2021 the venue had a massive fire a few months beforehand, so we changed the venue and finally planned it for 2022.
6. Did you have any fears or worries about the day?
No, we were just so excited to get married.
7. Things you wish you didn’t do or wish you had?
We wish we had been able to hold it earlier due to the passing of our grandparents, however, I think a lot of people were in the same position as us.
8. Advice for future couples?
My bridesmaids have been amazing with all the prep, keeping me on track with all the stress and the HUGE to-do list. So I’d say…have people around you who are as excited as you are and willing to help you out as Jake has done nothing but pick the colour of his suit.
