Charming & Sophisticated Styled Shoot in Springville, Utah
I’m Sarah, a Utah wedding photographer and the owner of Sarah Layne Photo & Design.
My goal in planning and designing this styled shoot was to represent the end of winter and the transition into spring by combining opulent grandeur with budding vibrance.
The Florals
When I first toured Copper Creek Event Center, I noticed the fireplace and immediately envisioned a picturesque setting with lush florals and pastel hues. I wanted to accent the natural beauty of the fireplace without overpowering it, and Sarah at Jane Dae Floral did an incredible job of bringing my vision to life. She created fresh and ethereal arrangements, combining color and texture that really enhanced the look of the shoot.
The Cake
Next, I worked with Cake by Peiya to develop a design that would incorporate various textures and culminate in a style that was both unique and elegant. Peiya went above and beyond, constructing a beautiful, three-tier cake that tasted even better than it looked. (Trust me; this was one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten.)
As I began designing the tablescape for the shoot, I decided to use the cake as a centerpiece. The dishes I chose were simple yet sophisticated, allowing the cake to be the star of the show.
The bride and groom
Finally, it was time to style the bride and groom. The models were a real-life couple named Taylor and Isaiah Shettell, and their love and energy made this shoot so much fun to photograph.
The Golden Dress
I started by developing Taylor’s look. As part of my rental business, I had recently acquired a stunning golden dress that I knew would be the perfect addition to the shoot. Utilizing gold as an accent color elevated the overall look of the shoot while adding a warm and inviting ambiance.
The Hair and Makeup
When sourcing hair and makeup artists, I chose Brooke West specifically because she has a talent for creating gorgeous, thick braids. She transformed Taylor’s hair into an elegant updo with a modern flair while Kailie Artistry worked her magic on Taylor’s makeup. It was important to me that Taylor’s look utilize neutral colors while enhancing her natural beauty, and Kailie gave her a makeover fit for a queen.
The Ring
A ring from Wilson Diamonds added the final touch to Taylor’s look. The center stone was surrounded by dozens of smaller gems, creating a sparkle that reflected the light beautifully.
I had initially planned to dress Isaiah in a neutral-colored suit, but we ultimately opted for a navy blue. Between the grand ballroom, the cozy fireplace, and Taylor’s golden dress, I was getting all the Beauty and the Beast vibes, and Isaiah’s look tied everything together perfectly.
My Disney princess dreams definitely came true with this styled shoot. I’m forever grateful to the fabulous team of vendors who came together to make it all possible.
