We Love This LGBTQ Retro Wedding at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon
This retro wedding is one for the books! Disco ball décor, vibrant florals, flower-power liquor gun, and magical fairies during golden hour (ok, they were mosquitos). The perfect fairytale them wedding for anyone looking to have the ideal 1970’s wedding vibes because it had it all! Kayla and Kayla (yes, my brides had the same name) wanted the day to be so much fun for their guests and included many fun games and dancing. This 1970’s wedding shoot inspired them to hire me for their day!
Can’t go wrong with a campground wedding!
Silver Falls State Park in Oregon created magic for these two. If you get married at the park, you have the option to hike the waterfall on the day of your wedding. These two decided not to so they could spend more time with their guests, but having options is great! There are several great options for getting married at the park from the barn you see featured to another lodge, and the best part is that it works for any season. You also have options for portraits from the forest to the field.
It’s really important to me that every portrait session feels natural to the couple and fun. I want you to leave the session feeling excited to see your pictures! Part of being LGBTQ+ friendly is knowing that posing might look different. Inclusive posing techniques mean not assuming that one person wants to lead a twirl or one person wants to wrap their arms around the other person. Instead, it’s offering options to see who feels more comfortable in each role and switching it up as you go along! Having two brides with the same name gave us all a laugh, something the Kayla’s are used to, but we worked it out by using last name initials.
Embracing people for who they are makes the best wedding galleries!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the amazing vendor team that made this day truly unforgettable! Coordinator Emily Davison Events made sure everything progressed so smoothly and worked closely with the venue Silver Falls to pull it all off! The Slow Cult worked their magic with the florals (no, seriously, please look at them, they’re stunning!). The perfect retro wedding dress came from BHLDN. And DJ Manny Fresco kept everyone partying late into the night! Wish we could do it all again.
