Skull Button Holes and a Cherry fascinator: Justin and Jodi Wedding at The Guildhall in Bath
We have been so looking forward to blogging Justin and Jodi’s wedding, ever since Andy from Tiptography tweeted us to tell us about this unique and personal wedding he would be shooting last weekend.
The ceremony was held at The Guildhall in Bath with the reception at a relations house. Here is what Andy had to say about the day…
“Both in their early 20’s Justin and Jodi wanted to ensure their wedding had a very unique and personal theme and ensured that everything from the button holes to the flowers to the favours and guestbook were handmade by the couple. It was an intimate and informal wedding where the couple showed their creative side in what really was a fantastic day had by all.
With this in mind on a very rainy Thursday I headed off to The Guildhall in Bath hoping for a break in the rain to capture some shots of the couple in and around Bath. This was not meant to be but The Guildhall itself, with the old courtroom acting as the cermony room and the fabulous feature marble staircase, proved that I couldn’t have asked for a better location to capture the natural quirkiness of the couple.
From Justin’s skull button hole to Jodi’s dark cherry fascinator every detail captured their personalities perfectly. Their retro chic reception had a very Jubilee feel to it with red, white and blue colours out in force and we were even treated to a fantastic fish and chip supper by the couple.
I hope you love the photo’s as much as we loved the day.”
A huge congratulations to Jodi and Justin on your amazing day and massive thanks to Andy at Tiptography for these amazing images.
Much Bespoke Love

Why I Love The Guildhall: Timeless Elegance in the Heart of Bath
Nestled near the iconic Abbey, Roman Baths, and Pump Room, The Guildhall stands as a testament to Georgian grandeur. Its historic charm and exquisite interiors create an enchanting backdrop for weddings. Here’s why I believe it’s a great choice:
- Georgian Splendor: The Guildhall boasts impressive Georgian architecture, complete with ornate cornicing, grand staircases, and magnificent chandeliers. Imagine making your grand entrance down those stairs, surrounded by the whispers of history.
- Versatile Spaces: With six beautifully licensed rooms, The Guildhall accommodates weddings of varying sizes. Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, there’s a space to suit your vision.
- Banqueting Room: The crown jewel, the Banqueting Room, has hosted notable events for centuries. Its spacious elegance can accommodate both your ceremony and reception. Picture saying your vows beneath its high ceilings, surrounded by family and friends.
- Aix-en-Provence Room: Adjacent to the Banqueting Room, this smaller space is perfect for pre-reception drinks or as a cozy bar later in the evening. Some couples even take a leisurely stroll to nearby Abbey Churchyard for their evening festivities.
- Parade Gardens: Just a short walk away, the beautifully kept Parade Gardens overlook the River Avon and Pulteney Bridge. If the weather cooperates, it’s an ideal spot for drinks receptions and capturing stunning wedding photographs.
- Gay-Friendly Venue: The Guildhall’s staff is committed to helping everyone organize their perfect wedding. Love knows no boundaries here.
- Bath Register Office: Conveniently located within The Guildhall, the Bath Register Office ensures a seamless process for legalities.
At the one wedding I was once invited to at a Guildhall, I was captivated by the Banqueting Room’s opulence. The bride glided down the aisle, her gown trailing behind her, while sunlight streamed through the tall windows. The vows exchanged echoed off the historic walls, and the joy in the room was palpable. Later, we sipped champagne in the Aix-en-Provence Room, surrounded by laughter and heartfelt toasts. It was a day etched in memory—a celebration of love against a timeless backdrop.
In summary, The Guildhall in Bath offers a blend of history, elegance, and versatility—a canvas where love stories come alive. 🌟
Absolutely stunning pics. You both looked stunning on your big day! Best wishes <3
I love these wedding photos. But would like to ask the bride how she made/inspired the fab buttonholes as I would love to either purchase/make some for my friend’s wedding in April.
Please can you pass on this message, it would mean so much.
thank you,
Lucy
Hi Lucy
Unfortunately it is now over 4 years since we posted this wedding and we are no longer in contact with the bride. I am so sorry that we cannot be of anymore help.
Best of luck with your wedding in April.
