Erica and Matt’s Enchanting Farm Wedding at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm in NJ
Right as we saw the photos of this stunning wedding at Johnson’s Locus Hall Farm in NJ – we fell in love with it…So we talked to photographer Jay Cassario from Twisted Oaks Studio – who took these amazing photos, and got the story behind them… .
“As wedding photographers, we’re used to the spotlight, but capturing the nuptials of fellow photographers adds a delightful layer of challenge. Erica and Matt, both talented bird and nature photographers, chose Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm—a gem among New Jersey’s rustic wedding venues—as the backdrop for their big day. And we had the honor of capturing their love story.
Upon arrival, the sun greeted us with a golden glow that lit up the farm’s 300 acres of stunning countryside. Some photographers might shy away from direct sunlight, but we embrace it, letting it highlight the beauty of the day, as you’ll see in the images below.
Erica and Matt’s Enchanting Farm Wedding
Erica and Matt’s wedding was an intimate, outdoor affair, blessed with unseasonably perfect weather. The historic 17th-century barns, lush orchards, and charming farm animals provided an idyllic backdrop, reflecting the couple’s love for nature and artistry. Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm graciously gave us full access, allowing us to capture a breathtaking variety of shots.
Meeting Erica and Matt for the first time on their wedding day could have been daunting, but our instant connection made it feel like we were old friends. This camaraderie set a relaxed tone, making it one of the most enjoyable weddings we’ve ever photographed. Their trust in our vision allowed us to document their day in an artistic and unobtrusive manner.
One unforgettable moment was the twilight photoshoot after the reception. This undistracted time allowed us to capture stunning night shots, highlighting both the beauty of the venue and the couple’s genuine connection. Erica and Matt’s decision to prioritize photography and their trust in us reaffirmed why we love our job so much.
Erica and Matt’s Heartfelt Review
Erica’s review perfectly captures their experience with us:
“I reached out to Twisted Oaks Studio because their portfolio stood out—artistic, atmospheric, with beautiful compositions and stunning use of light and shadow. What I didn’t expect was how kind and funny Sandi and Jay would be! My husband and I, both camera-shy, felt at ease within minutes. We’re used to being behind the lens, but Sandi and Jay made the experience fun and natural. Our comfort level and rapport are clearly reflected in our photos.
The photos are simply breathtaking. Jay and Sandi create dreamy, evocative images with a variety of artistic compositions. Friends and family have been stunned, describing them as ‘dreamy’ and ‘magical.’ My art-trained family members were especially impressed, with my brother calling Jay ‘a serious artist’ and my father writing, ‘Jay is a master photographer!’
I can’t stop looking at our photos and reliving the emotions of the day. Sandi and Jay not only met but far exceeded my expectations, adding joy to an already magical day. I have nothing but gratitude and awe for their work.”
Erica and Matt’s wedding at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm was a reminder of why we love what we do. Their trust, the beautiful setting, and our shared love for capturing life’s most precious moments made for an unforgettable experience.
