RAINFOREST WEDDING INSPIRATION FOR COLOUR OBSESSED BRIDES
Dream team Kelly L’Esperance (of Miss Fleur Floral) and Grace Hill (of Photography by Grace Hill) love working together to create new and exciting ideas! After following Rock the Frock Bridal’s Instagram and coming across the gorgeous blue dip-dye dresses by the fabulous Lucy Can’t Dance, they just had reach out to her to see if she fancied partnering up for our crazy colourful ideas and this my friends is the result, a tropical rainforest bridal editorial.
“The theme for this shoot was to focus the entire shoot around the makeup, dress and colour, playing on these three elements and tying them together to evoke something you might see in Vogue!” Began Grace.
“We wanted to challenge the traditional conventions of being a bride to be, and rather wanted to appeal to the quirkier, more upbeat bride. Think, the kind of bride with sass and empowerment – we wanted a ’This Girl Can’ kind of lady! A strong woman, one who could hold her own.”
“The inspiration for the entire shoot was based solely on Lucy Can’t Dance’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ dress, the orange dip-dye number you see at the end of the shoot. The orange dip-dye was something I had never seen before in any bridal wear, and Lucy, just like her dresses, are for confident brides who want to break the mould.”
“As vendors, we were very fortunate in that Writtle University College, allowed us to shoot with them in their tropical greenhouses. However, locations like this can often take hard work or a case of ‘knowing the right people’ to get access to – which can’t always be easy when you’re a bride in a sea of wedding planning conundrums! So, my advise as a prospective bride, would be that it is always worth reaching out to strange or unusual venues to see if they may let you hold a ceremony there first. The worst they can say is no, and you could always hold a ceremony and later have an official wedding ceremony at a registry office for example.”

Tips for Planning a Rainforest Wedding
Planning a rainforest wedding is as magical as it sounds, but it comes with its own quirks. Think of it like taming a wild animal—beautiful, but unpredictable. I’ve had the pleasure of attending one, and let me tell you, it was an experience that sticks with you. But, if you’re diving into this lush, green adventure, there are a few things to keep in mind.
First off, weather. If you’re planning a rainforest wedding, remember—this place didn’t earn the name by being dry. Rain is practically the guest of honor, so you’ll want to embrace it rather than fight it. One couple I knew had a backup plan that involved cute, clear umbrellas for all the guests. Instead of ruining the vibe, it added to it—there was something so romantic about exchanging vows under a soft drizzle, with mist rising from the forest floor. So, go with the flow, quite literally.
Now, onto the location. You’re going to be surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth, but you’ll need to think about the logistics. Accessibility can be tricky, especially for older guests who may not find jungle trekking their idea of fun. But the payoff? Those views. Trust me, there’s nothing like standing in a cathedral of trees, with sunlight filtering through the canopy. It’s the kind of natural beauty that doesn’t need any extra decoration. But don’t forget your bug spray—mosquitoes love a rainforest wedding as much as you do!
One more thing I learned: nature doesn’t care about your schedule. Animals, sounds, and surprises are part of the deal. At the wedding I attended, we had a surprise visitor—a curious monkey that decided to crash the cake cutting! Honestly, it only made the day more memorable. If you’re up for a bit of wild spontaneity, a rainforest wedding will deliver. But if you’re the kind of couple who needs every detail planned down to the last petal, you might want to reconsider.
All in all, a rainforest wedding is not for the faint-hearted. But if you’re looking for something off the beaten path, with a little unpredictability and a lot of natural charm, it’s an adventure worth taking. Just be ready to share your day with a few unexpected guests—both human and otherwise!
