“Hannah and Sean were an absolute blast to work with! They were married at the beautiful Arrowhead Golf Course on a warm fall day in Littleton, Colorado.
Hannah and Sean wanted a fun and lovely day, and it came together perfectly. They met at CU Boulder (Hannah was a dancer for the CU dance team, and Sean was Chip the Buffalo mascot).

Fun fact: All the groomsmen were Chip at one point in time! At the end of the night, Chip even made a special appearance!
They were so relaxed and just enjoyed being in the moment, which led to the most genuine and fun interactions. The love they shared and all their inside jokes had them laughing nonstop—I had no idea what they were giggling about half the time, but it was so contagious.
Add in the joy from their friends, family, and their sweet pup Moose, and their day was nothing short of amazing.”

Teeing Up ‘I Do’: Tips and Ideas for Planning a Golf Course Wedding
The first time I attended a wedding at a golf course, I was worried my heels would sink straight into the green. Spoiler alert: they did. But honestly? That didn’t matter. The view was so breathtaking I would’ve walked barefoot across the 18th hole if I had to.
Planning a wedding at a golf course can be a hole-in-one—or a bogey—depending on how you prep. Over the last 13 years at Bespoke Bride, I’ve seen plenty of golf course weddings—from the glam to the gorgeously minimal, and yes, even a couple where a stray golf cart ended up in the background of the couple’s kiss. So if you’re considering saying your vows where the fairways roll like a sea of green velvet, I’ve got tips, stories, and some spicy real talk for you.
1. The Pros Are Picture-Perfect
Let’s start with the obvious: the views. A golf course wedding gives you front-row seats to nature’s best landscaping crew. Manicured greens? Check. Rolling hills? Check. Golden hour lighting that seems suspiciously cinematic? Big check. You’d pay thousands for that kind of backdrop in a photo studio.
At Hannah and Sean’s wedding at Arrowhead Golf Course in Colorado, for example, the natural setting made everything feel bigger—more epic—yet somehow more intimate too. Photographer Katie Blondin nailed it.
But here’s the thing nobody tells you: the wind. Golf courses tend to be open and breezy. So that the cathedral-length veil might end up doing aerial stunts during mid-ceremony. Maybe consider veil weights or opt for a low bun and skip the fluff. Experience talking.
2. Logistics: Smooth as a Putting Green?
One of the best things about planning a golf course wedding is that many of these venues double as full-blown event spaces. Some have in-house catering, built-in seating options, and coordinators who know how to pivot if a thunderstorm decides to crash the reception. This built-in support can save you from 90% of the stress (and at least one “Why did I do this to myself?” moment).
However, not all golf courses are created equal. Some are well-seasoned in the wedding game. Others, not so much. Always ask if they’ve hosted weddings before, and request photos and reviews. The Knot has a great list of vetted golf course venues with reviews from real couples:
3. Dress Code Drama? Possibly.
There’s a funny, unspoken pressure when you get married somewhere “fancy.” And golf courses, even the rustic ones, often give off that country club vibe. Suddenly, you’re second-guessing if your boho linen suit will offend Great Aunt Patricia’s idea of formality.
Let me clear that up for you: it’s your wedding. Whether you want tuxedos, cowboy boots, or a full Bridgerton-themed affair with monocles and all, own it. But do make sure to inform your guests about the terrain. If you’re having an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, a gentle “leave the stilettos at home” note can be a lifesaver. Trust me.
4. Timing Is Everything
Golf courses are not just wedding venues—they’re active sports grounds. If you’re not booking a private course, your photographer might be dodging golfers mid-shoot. Aim for an evening wedding, when most golfers have cleared out, and the sun is lower in the sky for that warm, golden glow.
I learned this the hard way when I attended a wedding in San Diego where the ceremony had to be paused twice—for stray golf balls. Romantic? Not so much. Funny? Absolutely.

5. Hidden Costs? Possibly. Ask.
Here’s where things can get sneaky. Some golf courses charge additional fees for things like tent setup, access to the putting green for photos, or extending the event past twilight. Others have strict rules about amplified music, alcohol, or drone photography (a big one!). Always read the fine print. I repeat: read. the. fine. print.

Final Thoughts
A golf course wedding isn’t just about the venue—it’s about the vibe. There’s something almost cinematic about being surrounded by that much open space, where every direction looks like it was built to frame your love story. It’s not for everyone, sure. But if you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels luxurious without being over-the-top, calm yet elegant, then this might be your sweet spot.
Personally, I’ve left every golf course wedding I’ve attended with one thought: “I get it now.” The serenity, the space, the way the couple always seems to stand out, like they’re the only two people in the world.
And maybe, for a few hours, they really are.
