A Beautiful Beach Engagement Shoot In New Zealand
Last month, just as I was getting ready to head off to London for the weekend I decided to quickly check the emails one last time before I left the house and sitting in our inbox was an unbelievably beautiful engagement shoot from the extremely talented Nisha Ravji. I was so taken back with the shoot and literally couldn’t wait to show these breathtaking photos to you but January felt like the perfect time for them! There’s a certain spring/summer feel to these shots so I hope they brighten up your Monday! I’ll hand the reigns over to Alyssa & Matt to tell you more about themselves and their shoot…
“Matt and I have known each other for quite a long time, we went to school together and he played in the same soccer team as my brother when they were teenagers. We officially started dating when we were 17 and have now been together for 7 and a half years, 4 of which were spent in a long distance relationship between Australia and New Zealand (not something I would recommend!!) Matt proposed at a place that is very special to us both, Whangamata beach, where we have spent the majority of our holidays together and experienced a lot of relationship milestones.”
“Matt dug deep into the romantic part of his character and put on a very emotional display of ‘items’ that were each meaningful or special to us as a couple in some way. As we went through each item, Matt explained the special little story or memory behind them and why this meant we should spend the rest of our lives together. After the 14th item (7 for the years he had invested in the relationship and 7 for me), Matt read a very cheesy and emotional poem that ended with the question “Will you marry me” and I responded with a very blubbery and emotional “of course I will!”
“It meant a lot to us that we were able to have our engagement shoot at the same special place that has witnessed to so many of our relationship milestones. Neither Matt nor myself are particularly photogenic or confident with having our photos taken but Nisha put us at ease and captured some fantastic natural shots. She really made us feel like ourselves and we were overwhelmed at the effort she had put into the shoot including making us snacks, bringing wedding magazines for us to read while we waited out the rain and even going to the store where I had bought my dress to check out how the colours would work!”
“I would absolutely recommend doing an engagement shoot as ‘practice’ for the wedding and the photos made a lovely printed book for everyone to sign at our engagement party. Thanks for doing such a fantastic job Nisha, having you as our photographer is the easiest decision we have made we can’t wait for the wedding!”
