Wedding DIY: How To Make A Pom-Pom Headband Crown From Yarn or Wool
So I have developed a bit of a crown obsession lately. Those that follow us on Instagram will know just how much I love a good crown and most of mine have been purchased from the very fabulous Crown & Glory. Today I thought I would give making my own crown a go as I pretty much want to own a crown of all shapes, sizes and colours. I have seen this type of crown floating around on Pinterest and Instagram lately and I thought it would be fun to give it a go, especially with lots of different colours!
You will need:
♥ A plain headband ♥ wool/ yarn in your choice of colours ♥ Scissors ♥ Fork
Step 1: Take your wool and tie it around the prongs of the fork.
Step 2: Start by wrapping the wool around the fork.
Step 3: Keep wrapping the wool until you have a large bundle.
Step 4: Cut the end of your wool.
Step 5: Cut another small length of wool around 30cm or so long.
Step 6: Thread beneath your bundle, through the middle prongs. Pass the other end over the top and tie together to create a tight knot, which should hold the bundle firmly in place across the middle.
Step 7: Pass the other end over the top.
Step 8: Tie these pieces of wool together to create a tight knot, which should hold the bundle firmly in place across the middle.
Step 9: Slip the yarn bundle over the fork and begin to snip the loops on each side. DO NOT snip the loose ends of the knot, this will be used later to secure your pom pom to your headband.
Step 10: Fluff the pom pom, taking care to not pull out the wool.
Step 11: Continue to do this until you have 5 or 6 pom poms in any colour of your choice.
Step 12: Now you are ready to secure each of your poms poms in place by tying the loose string around the headband, making sure it is firmly attached.
Step 13: Snip any remaining loose ends.
Step 14: Voila all thats left to do is place your brand new pom pom crown and admire!
Super quick and easy right! Of course you don’t have to use all different colours you could just try different shades of purple or orange, any colour you like in fact?
