A Native American Bohemian Styled Shoot
One of the things I love most about social media is that we can be regularly updated with our friends activities. One dreary day back in December I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when I came across the above image, it was posted on the wall of the fabulous Dale Weeks and I fell in love with it instantly. In my head I couldn’t help but think to myself, “that would look awesome on our blog!”. Well the universe must of heard me because within days Natalie from Curious Fair contacted me to let me know about an awesome styled shoot she had worked on with Dale Weeks and within minutes of reading the email I knew it was the shoot I had fallen in love only a few days earlier. I love the headpieces they give the shoot the most amazing rustic vibe! I am super excited to announce that we will actually be working with Curious Fair on a styled shoot of our own in a couple of weeks, I know she is making us a custom headpiece and I really cannot wait to see what she has created. I know it will be amazing!
Over to Natalie from Curious Fair and Ellie from The Beauty Aisle to tell you all about the shoot…
We wanted to create an autumnal shoot that reflected the rustic & alternative atmosphere of The Bell Inn, Ticehurst. We were inspired by bohemian native american style, we used seasonal materials such as feathers, pinecones, twigs & dried berries to create bespoke decorations. We kept the styling quite simple as the wooden beams & vintage furniture looked so beautiful as a backdrop for our shoot. We scattered feathers and placed glass lanterns decorated with antique lace around the venue to enhance its rustic setting.
Frou Frou bridal boutique provided us with the most perfect dresses. Elizabeth Stuart’s ‘Antonia’ and ‘Clementine’ from Sarah Seven. Both were fairly unstructured and had the whimsical design ideal for our laid-back theme.
Keeping with the whimsical theme, we created a number of bespoke headdresses and bouquets from seasonal materials. Our wild pine cone & feather bouquets complimented the alternative headdresses made from feathers & dried flowers as an autumnal alternative to fresh flowers. We chose to create a mixture of feather crowns & animal headpieces to create a bohemian festival vibe.
We wanted to keep the make up fairly fresh and simple. Our model had gorgeous skin so I used a light foundation from Bobbi Brown and added a touch of highlighter on her cheekbones. I choose a deep berry lip-stain to compliment the rich colours of the styling and used a co-ordinating cream blush. The look was completed with a few individual lashes to bring out Emily’s eyes. Lizz styled Emily’s tousled hair in loose plaits finished off with wild feathers.
Isn’t is this shoot just so dreamy! Doesn’t it just make you want to run barefoot in the grass! Probably not so much now, its a bit cold but one day this summer I will adorn my feather crown and frolick in the meadows!
Much Bespoke Love
