An Industrial Pittsburgh City Engagement – Stephanie and Anthony

Stephanie and Anthony’s engagement session couldn’t have taken place in a more innovative city – known for its 446 bridges, Pittsburgh hosts the brightest coloured bridges in the world with many of them being painted sunshine yellow.

I dont know about you but there is something about the colour yellow that seriously makes me happy!

I have never been to Pittsburgh but I think after reading Stephanie’s glowing review of the city has quickly caused this to become one of my bucket list places to visit.

Here is what she had to say…

We met through mutual friends… when I was invited to join a group of Anthony’s friends on their annual New Year’s Eve trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We started to become friends and bonded over causing a little bit of good-hearted New Year’s Eve mischief with our friends. In the following months, we started to stay in touch more through text messages. Finally, one Saturday afternoon, Anthony asked me to grab a drink with him and it’s all history from there!

The Engagement… After living together for a while, we knew we were heading towards marriage and decided to buy our first home. For Christmas that year, we decided to keep the gifts minimal and focus on just enjoying the holiday in our new home. The night before we were leaving to visit my parents for the holiday, we popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate our first Christmas in our home and exchanged presents. Once the gifts were all opened, Anthony handed me another present from behind the Christmas tree and told me it was my “big” present – confusing, as I thought I had already opened the biggest one (remember…we were keeping the gifts minimal!). After digging through layers of tissue paper, I found a jar of ring cleaner and by the time I processed what was happening and looked up, Anthony was on one knee, holding the ring. I was completely surprised that he had asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!

Our first vacation together was to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania… neither of us had been there before. We spent the weekend exploring the city and completely fell in love with its charm. In fact, it wasn’t long after we returned home that we were already planning another weekend trip back to the city. After our engagement, as we started to think about our ideal setting for engagement photos, Pittsburgh felt like the natural choice as it has quickly become our favorite place for a weekend getaway. At our first meeting with our wedding photographer, Tara Peddicord, Anthony mentioned the idea of traveling to Pittsburgh for the engagement session and – to our surprise – Tara was open to it! On the day of the engagement shoot, we chose some of our favorite Pittsburgh locations and tried to show Tara and her husband, Ben, a good time in the city.
