A Colourful Summer Camp Wedding Filled with Friends, Family and Dogs!
Seriously, how beautiful is that above photo? It reminds me of The Notebook. You know the one…that scene on the lake….it get’s me every time! ANYWAY, that isn’t Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams, it’s in fact Ashley and Mark who’s fun filled summer camp wedding won us over from the get go, as if it wasn’t amazing enough to have lots of little doggies running around they also had singing guests, Jenga & a whole bundle of family fun! See for yourself…
“We met in college. Our older siblings had a mutual friend (but they didn’t know each other) who owned a restaurant chain and when he opened the chain at our school he hired us both. We started hanging out as friends and about a year later, we started dating!
The lodge is owned by an old friend of my moms. When I was describing to her my dream venue, it popped into her mind that her friend had bought an old summer camp. She had no idea what it looked like but reached out to him. The moment we saw it we just knew it was the perfect spot. (even though it was January and covered in snow!)
I think the ceremony was the most meaningful part for both of us. We asked all of our siblings to participate and we didn’t really give them any guidance for what we wanted. Steve (Mark’s brother) interviewed us and our family and friends and really created something that was so perfect for the both of us and our families. We were totally surprised when the whole family starting singing and when we found out they had all been rehearsing together in secret.
Our advice to future couples getting married would be to pick a few things that are really important and get your family/friends involved! We had a really tight budget but picked a few big things we really wanted to be perfect (like the venue and our lovely photographer) and then asked for help with the rest. Our family and friends did so much to help with flowers, decorations, activities, cooking, bar-tending, parking…you name it! And it all came together so wonderfully!”
