Why Did You Create Buy Our Honeymoon?

We’re a husband-and-wife team, and we launched Buy Our Honeymoon in 2007. The idea, however, first began life back when we were planning our own wedding. We didn’t like the idea of re-stocking a flat already bursting at the seams, so we instead compiled a list of adventures for our epic 3000-mile road trip of Florida and the Deep South.

Our bridesmaids helped us stay in a log cabin, up in the smoky mountains of Tennessee; work colleagues upgraded our rental car to a convertible; aunts and uncles bought us tickets to all the theme parks.

Our friends and family embraced the idea with great love and enthusiasm — and thanks to them, our honeymoon was the most amazing trip of a lifetime. From this, we knew that other couples might be looking for the same thing.

What Makes You Different?

You can choose from a selection of discreet web addresses for your list, there are no ads, and our own branding stays subtle so the focus is all on you.

Your guests choose any of the ideas you’ve listed, and leave you a personal message. They then pay the value of their gift directly to you, using whatever payment methods you have chosen. Our site can facilitate and track your gift payments, but we don’t hold any funds on your behalf and we don’t take our fee out of the gifts you’re given.

We are always refining and adapting our service in response to customer requests — we have added dozens of features that way! But here’s a couple of things we are working on right now…

Our wedding gift list designs all adapt perfectly to mobile devices like the iPhone or iPad, so your guests can use your list easily and conveniently wherever they are — and they will get the full experience, not just a watered-down mobile version of the site. Very soon, we will be doing the same to our own site, so that it’s just as easy to create and manage your list on your phone as it is on your laptop.

With Buy Our Honeymoon, guests can pay for gift online into your PayPal account using a credit or debit card, or if you are in the UK, as a one-off Direct Debit. With this, instead of using a card, guests can simply and securely set up a one-off payment from their bank account directly into yours. We will soon be able to facilitate gift payments by Direct Debit to couples and their guests in the EU too.
