A Modern Chic Wedding Dressed in College Colours: Rachel & Justin
For someone that isn’t very crafty, Rachel has done a fantastic job of adding her own little DIY details. Disappointed with the lack of affordable table numbers and decor, she felt she had no choice but to try and make her own and the results turned out to be even better that shop bought, if you ask me?
The idea of using the colours of the college that they both attended was a genius idea, I would never of thought to look to history for a colour theme? Rachel also asked her uncle to be the officiant at her ceremony which I think makes this whole wedding even more personal and heartfelt. I have said it before and I will say it again it is not always the physical details that make a wedding bespoke, it’s the ideas behind them.
We asked Rachel to tell you more…
“We wanted our wedding to have a classy yet modern chic feel to it . I chose to use purple, white and gray as our colours scheme, these are the colours from Kansas State University, the college both my husband and I had previously attended.
I’m not very crafty, but I did add a few personal touches to the wedding. I made cardboard letters from modge podge for the table numbers as I couldn’t find any large table letters or numbers that would fit our budget, I had photos of our parents’ wedding hanging above the guest book (which was actually a canvas photo of us). We felt that it was unique to have both sets of parents still together, and so we wanted to celebrate it. I also hung photos of us hung wires in the hallway.
My favorite moment had to be seeing my husband, Justin, for the first time as I walked down the aisle. We chose that to be our first time seeing each other for the day, and it was really special. Also, my uncle was our officiant, which made the whole ceremony much more personal and sincere.
My advice for someone planning their wedding is to just stay calm and be patient. Even if you think things are not going the way you expect them to, everything works out in the best of ways.”
