A Soft, Romantic Bohemian Styled Shoot with the Most Beautiful Blooms!
I am so in love with todays shoot, it is all sorts of beautiful! I am a real sucker for a pastel palette and pretty florals, no matter how much I try to fight it, anything romantic and girly will get me everytime. The blooms in this shoot are incredible and the crown really is a sight to behold. The beauty doesn’t just stop there, the venue is stunning, the dress is totally gorgeous and the styling is darling, I just can not pick one favorite thing!
I really enjoyed reading Photographer jacqueline’s story of inspiration, I like to know how certain events trigger an idea and in this case it was a long cold winter that not surprisingly inspired this summery bohemian styled shoot, here she is to tell you more…
“This dream started over our very long and cold winter. Each snowy night meant I had time to drink tea by a fire and read wedding magazines. I was so inspired by the earthy and organic feel Bohemian weddings offered, heavily featured with beautiful blooms and a lovely pastel palette, I knew that I wanted my styled shoot to have a Boho vibe with a rustic touch. I wanted it to be soft, romantic, simple and incorporate certain must-haves such as a floral headpiece, an outdoor setting, several DIY touches, and a beautiful lace gown.
Flower crowns are used in cultures all over the world to symbolize a woman’s beauty, love, and story. I instantly connected with this since my own photography has the same philosophy. Lastly, I wanted to show that a wedding can be styled in a simple, inexpensive way… and still be luxurious. Simplicity is the key.
While I live in Howell, most of my weddings are in Metro Detroit. I made it my mission to research the best and brightest wedding vendors that are local to me. Livingston and Washtenaw County have amazing talent, and I was blown away by my hometown vendors. Teresa did the hair and makeup from Mi Amore Beauty in Howell. I can honestly say she is the very best in the business. Her makeup photographs flawlessly. Sandi from Ruby Slipper Design, Howell, created the most amazing floral decor that I have ever worked with. Her wreath, centerpiece, and boutique were like works of art. Kelly from Serradella Vintage, Howell, has the most mind-blowing collection of vintage pieces that you can imagine. Sandi and her have a new warehouse in Downtown Howell that is bursting at the seams with antique props, furniture, and tablescapes. She is a true game-changer in the industry, as are all of the vendors who participated.
Lastly, Laura and Dan from Cottonwood Barn have restored the most beautiful barn in the country. It literally takes your breath away. They painstakingly rebuilt every piece of the historic barn and added beautiful antique elements. The chandelier alone is from a turn of the century ballroom in Miami! Needless to say, I am so thankful for all of their help, whether it be with products, service, or simply their words of encouragement. I highly recommend collaborating with these incredibly talented and passionate professionals…they are seriously the best in the biz! I also have to give a big heartfelt THANK YOU to my models, Joel and Sarah Sherrard. They have been my photography muses for years. They truly understand how to be themselves in front of a camera, and Sarah trusts me when I coach her posing. They are both naturals and all around fantastic human beings.”

I love this inspirational shoot. It has a bohemian edge, but is classic at the same time. I love that quote about the flower crowns. Very fitting.
