DIY: How To Use Hair Chalk to Create Ombre Hair
Good Morning you lovely lot! Today I am pretty excited to share this uber fun DIY with you. I have been playing with the idea of dying my hair for quite a while now. I am always drawn to images of girls with long lilac locks on Pinterest but I have never quite had the ooomph to do it, pretty much because I am way to lazy to keep on top of all the upkeep.
So instead of going the full 10 miles I decided to do a bit of experimenting with hair chalk. Although not permanent it certainly gave me the look I was going for, with the added bonus of being able to wash it out and change the colours whenever I want, vital for someone who can never make up their mind – someone like me 😀
Here is how I did it…
You Will Need: Hair Chalk in choice of three colours (I used a vibrant pink, light blue and deep purple)// Water spray bottle// protective gloves// An old shirt (to wear whilst you are chalking as the colour will transfer)//
Step 1: Take a section of hair – about an inch, and spray with a little water so that the hair is damp but not soaked.
Step 2: Take your first colour and start chalking about half way up the hair, you will need to cover around a third of the length of hair. To make sure each strand is covered, twist the hair as you go.
Step 3: Now take your second colour and chalk just below, using the same method as above, again only chalking about a third of the hair.
Step 4: Take your final colour and apply to the tips using the same method as above.
Step 5: Continue taking sections, spraying with water, then chalking as above until all the hair is coloured.
Step 6: To set the colour you will need to add heat to the hair, this can be using a hairdryer, straighteners or as in my case a curling tong.
Step 7: Use a little hairspray for good measure and woila time to feel like a unicorn! I love it!!!
This has to be one of my most favourite DIY’s so far! I would love to see your ombre hair so be sure to tag us on Instagram using #BespokeBride.
