A Quirky NYC Bookstore Wedding: Abigail & Jason
I just love the location and venue for todays book themed wedding. I adore books, just ask anyone that has seen my living room, we literally have shelves and shelves lined with them, it would be my dream to have a in-house library – seriously how cool would that be! Anyway I love it when a couple use a combined passion for something as the backdrop for their wedding and that is exactly what Abigail & Jason did for their wedding. Here they are to tell us more…
“Jason and I knew from the beginning we wanted to do something different than a traditional wedding. We also wanted to keep things as simple as possible, so we eliminated a lot of the stressful planning involved such as seating charts and bridal parties. We chose to go with a cocktail party to keep things light and fun, and as we both love books we decided to have our ceremony and reception at Housing Works Bookstore in SoHo. We each had surprises planned for each other throughout the night; Jason got us an amazing mac and cheese bar and cotton candy for dessert, and I surprised him with the delicious Waffles and Dinges food truck.
We designed a little story book as our invitation. Jason drew all the images, then scanned them and edited and added text in Photoshop. After printing, we attached them together with twine, and added the RSVP card at the end, which was attached like a return card on library books.
For the favours we used hardcover books which I bought from the library, with all the proceeds goes back to fund the library. We hand wrote little bookmarks, thanking our guests for coming, and tied them up with twine and a little tag with our names and the date. We also had a cute sign in “book”, where the guests could sign library cards and drop them in the book.
Overall it was a beautiful and unique night and one that both we and our guests will never forget.”
