A Rustic Apple Orchard Barn Wedding in Indiana
When Katie started planning for her and Keth’s wedding she immediately went to Pinterest (obviously!) and was so inspired and filled with ideas for their special day, luckily Keth was quite the woodworker and managed to DIY their own card box, a wine holder guest book, all the signs for the wedding and even learned calligraphy to address the wedding invitations and hand written place cards! Talk about putting your own personal touch to your wedding, Katie and Keth nailed it!
“Keth and I fell in love with wine country after visiting Temecula in Southern California. We would go wine tasting every chance we could, and even made our own wine! Getting married at a winery with vineyard-covered hills in the background would be a dream. However, we wanted to get married in the midwest, and wineries are not too plentiful there. After giving my mom and sister an idea of the venue we were looking for, I was ecstatic when my sister suggested County Line Orchard in Hobart, IN, just minutes away from where we grew up! The apple orchard had everything I dreamed of-beautiful grounds with rows of apple trees, providing an intimate outdoor setting for the ceremony and a gorgeous, rustic barn for the reception. Keth had recently become quite the woodworker, so this setting just seemed so perfect for us. As we lived hundreds of miles away in North Carolina, I asked my mom to check it out right away. We knew we wanted a smaller wedding, so we chose to get married on a Friday to avoid the minimum guest count and keep costs down. Then came Pinterest. We wanted to create a rustic, clean, romantic vibe. We wanted to keep the decorations minimal and let the beauty of the barn and the twinkle lights do most of the work. We had a day of coordinator provided by the venue, but we chose to do the rest of the planning ourselves. I pinned and pinned and would show ideas to my amazing fiance, who was more than willing to work on woodworking projects for our big day. Not only did he make our card box, the wine holders for our “guest book,” and all of the signs for the wedding, he also learned calligraphy and addressed all of our wedding invitations and hand-wrote the place cards. After numerous attempts to get me to agree to a “Star Wars” themed wedding :), I finally agreed to our cute little Princess Leia and Hans Solo cake toppers! The entire day completely surpassed my expectations, but I do have some favorite parts. Keth and I chose not to see each other until the ceremony, so it was such a sweet moment finally getting to see my handsome, soon to be husband as I walked down the aisle. I missed him during the day! And the donuts–the late-night County Line Orchard apple spiced donuts were such a delicious treat for everyone after a couple hours of dancing. But my most favorite moment was Keth’s surprise performance of “Stolen” with his groomsmen at the reception. I am a lucky, lucky girl to have such a wonderful, creative, talented husband add such a unique touch to our wedding. The entire day was incredible, and Keth and I were so happy to share our love and joy with our closest friends and family. Cathy and David captured the day so beautifully. I had a huge smile on my face as we looked through all of the pictures and saw all of our loved ones celebrating our marriage and having a great time! My advice for other couples planning their wedding would be to hire a wedding planner/event designer if you have trouble making decisions or if you are simply busy with work. Everything turned out amazing, but I think I could have saved myself and my husband some stress had I splurged a little bit on some extra help!”

Why We Love The Idea of an Apple Orchard Barn Wedding
There’s something utterly magical about an Apple Orchard Barn Wedding. Picture this: the sun dipping low, casting a golden hue over rows of apple trees, the air thick with the sweet scent of ripe fruit. I’ve always believed that weddings should have a sense of place, and what better place than a barn nestled among apple trees?
Now, barns might make you think of hay and horses, but I see them as blank canvases, waiting for creativity to splash color, light, and love all over them. An apple orchard barn isn’t just rustic; it’s poetic. It’s like stepping into a love story where the setting is a character in itself—one that whispers secrets of harvests gone by and promises a fruitful future.
The charm of an apple orchard barn wedding is that it marries (pun intended) the best of both worlds: the coziness of a barn and the romance of an orchard. The barn offers a sheltering embrace, while the orchard, with its rows of apple trees, feels like nature’s cathedral. Imagine saying “I do” under a canopy of blossoms or beneath the branches heavy with fruit—it’s symbolic of growth, abundance, and the sweetness of life.
But let’s be honest, there are quirks to this dream. Barns aren’t always climate-controlled, and orchards come with bugs—nature’s tiny gate crashers. Yet, these are small prices to pay for the enchantment they offer. You can turn these “flaws” into features with cozy blankets, elegant citronella candles, and maybe even a charming tractor ride for guests!
An apple orchard barn wedding, in my experience, is about embracing the imperfectly perfect. It’s where elegance meets earthiness, and where love feels as timeless as the trees surrounding you. And honestly, who wouldn’t want that?
