As if last week’s beautiful shoot by Jessica Withey wasn’t gorgeous enough, she’s done it again and blown us away with something just as breathtaking! We were already sold when we heard the words ‘sequin’ and ‘bohemian’, but then we saw the stunning styling and fell head over heels in love with the gorgeous jewellery and clothing and we knew this shoot was a match made in heaven. Tattoos, man buns, sequins, wild flowers, beards, the sea & antlers are just some of the things that make this shoot so bloody brilliant…
“This shoot, sort of… spontaneously combusted into being. Lindsay (the stylist) and I were texting as we often do – one thing led to another – and there we were, looking at a Las Vegas elopement online. We we’re so inspired by this couple who had decided to screw the system and do their wedding exactly how they wanted to. There were smoke bombs, a sequin gown, pink hair and the most epic beard you’ve ever seen.
For us this wasn’t just inspiration, but it somehow shook us out of the idea that we needed to do anything for anyone else.
So, we set about listing all of the things that we thought were awesome. Tattoos, man buns, sequins, wild flowers, beards, the sea, fur coats, antlers – None of which seemed to match but in some weird way, actually went together like a dream.
We often dream up our biggest ideas over a casual text and somehow this one just seemed to come to life in no time. There we were, 3 days later – pulling this thing off! We had to beg steal and borrow almost everything for this shoot, and even try our hand at styling hair, but I think you’ll agree… sometimes the things that you think are awesome are ACTUALLY awesome just because YOU think they are.
This has got to be one of my favourite shoots so far – mainly because there’s something so liberating about doing a shoot just because you want to. There was no pressure whatsoever to do anything the way it ‘should’ be done. Instead – if it looked good to us – we said yes.”
