Deck the Walls with Glitter Deer Art…..Falalalala Lalalala!
One of my favourite things about the festive season has to be the decs! I have had mine up since the first week of christmas, I love the way they make the house seem warmer, more cosy even. This year I have decided on more traditional decorations, very much inspired by last years trip to Sweden and the Scandi style. Keen to add even more glitz I happened upon a similar canvas to this on Pinterest and thought it would be a great addition to our home. I wanted to make my version a lot simpler than those I had seen previously which included glue and glitter and thought this would be the next perfect project for the Cricut Explore. You will be amazed at how simple it is to make your own glitter deer art for Christmas!
You Will Need: 16 x 12 inch Canvas//18 x 14 inches White Fabric// Staple gun// Cricut Gold Iron on in Gold Glitter// Iron & Ironing Board//Cricut Explore//Clothespins//
Step 1: Stretch your fabric over the canvas and pin in place.
Step 2: Head over to the Cricut Design Space. ‘Create a New Project’ and search for ‘Deer head’ and choose the one you want. Then upload the our ‘Merry Christmas’ & ‘Deer’ pdfs to the design space and follow the instructions on the screen for cutting your silhouette and quote out of the Iron on material.
Step 3: Once cut you will need to remove any excess material from around the silhouette and text, you will need to take care at this stage as the text is quite thin and can easily be broken apart, although this isn’t the end of the world it is a lot easier to iron on as a whole.
Step 4: Place the silhouette and text on to your fabric and mark where the head and text will go using a very faint pencil line.
Step 5: Remove the pins and fabric and replace the silhouette and text this time making sure the shiny liner is on top. Take care to ensure that the head and quote remains in the right place, then use your iron to iron the them in place, following the guidelines on the packaging.
Step 6. Leave to cool, then gently remove the liner.
Step 7: Once cool replace the white fabric onto the canvas, ensuring the head and quote are lined up and central then staple the fabric in place to the wood at the back of the canvas.
Eeeek!!! Only 5 more days to go until Christmas. Have fun adding this to your own menagerie of decorations this year, its the perfect project for this weekend, provided you have finished all your Christmas shopping, unlike me?
