15 Alternative & Unique Seating Plans
Here at Bespoke Bride, we love to see weddings with a unique twist threaded throughout the day and when it comes to planning the wedding, focusing on the details is a great way to do this! Here, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite alternative seating plans! Forget the standard chart on the wall, these displays won’t settle for anything less than extra ordinary!
Seriously, how stunning is this?! Details of each persons seat hanging from a cherry blossom tree! Sure, your guests will have to rummage through to find their name but that’s all part of the fun! (Photo by Brett Matthews via Tantawan Bloom)
Names in numbered plant pots! Perfect for a garden themed wedding or for a couple with a love for the outdoors! (Photo by Caught The Light via 100 Layer Cake)
Let your guests know where to sit when they pick up their glass for a drink! (Photo by and via Creative Media Print)
For a rustic looking seating chart you can use wood as a major part of the display, we love the use of hearts here too! (Photo by Marianne Wilson via Rock n Roll Bride)
Window pains are becoming ever more popular in the wedding world, simply list the names using a white pen for an easy yet quirky seating chart. (Photo by Our Labour of Love via Ruffled)
Possibly our favourite seating chart ever! We love how personal this is to each of your guests and plus, it must be pretty funny for all of them to gawk over the photos you’ve chosen! I’m sure Ella on table 5 appreciated that one! (Photo source unknown)
Using the favors as part of the plan works great too! Simply attach their names and table place to whatever your favors may be and you’ve got some pretty happy guests!
For a romantic touch to the day, displaying the seating chart on a scroll is super cute and clearly looks great outdoors!
If you want something with more of a ‘wow’ factor then creating an entire display around the chart is gorgeous. You could even add pictures of the bride and groom! Be sure to tie in other details of the day too like the colour scheme or if the day has a theme to it.
If you’ve gone vintage for the day then typing up the seating chart on a typewriter and leaving it on display looks so classic!
Again, for a shabby chic, rustic feel, using a wooden door with keys displayed all over it is very effective!
For a DIY seating chart using mini pieces of patterned card embellished with buttons gives a really personal touch to the day!
Here’s another amazing DIY too! Cover old CD’s and use them as the letter markers in a box! This is also super efficient for your guests to easily find their name!
How about getting creative with some playing cards and a frame? Alternatively, you could just not have a seating plan at all and let your guests sit wherever they please! The choice is yours.
We’d love to hear from you if you had or made a seating plan for your wedding that had a little ‘uniqueness’ to it!

I love all of the unique seating plan but the one with Ella falling on the floor is one of my favorites….with this seating plan, you really have to know your guests personally to get these candid shots….love it!
We used keys as seating cards, similar to the one you have pictured! It worked out SO well as did the seating arrangements. I was worried before beginning to make the arrangements but we found http://www.socialtables.com and it made it actually kind of fun, crazy I know! Good luck to all brides 🙂
Thanks for sharing this Jamie, its always great to hear people doing something slightly different. Congratulations on your wedding – feel free to send us the pictures we would love to see x
It is amazing what great ideas people come up with for their table plans. I quite like the first one, but I think you might have to allow quite a lot of time in your wedding breakfast schedule for people to find where they are 😉
I am looking to buy a typewriter – I love the idea of typing out the table plan – anyone know where i can buy one – get hold of one.
I would check ebay x
We made our day really special with
1) Stationery made by http://www.pecographe.com – compared to loads of others on the market they were very reasonable.
2) We hired a London bus to transport guests from church to wedding reception.
3) We also used lottery scratchcards as table favours.
4) Our wedding cake was from the Hummingbird Bakery (Carrot Cake) in three sizes and then mounted on a cakestand bought on Ebay.
Thank you for sharing your day with us, the cake especially sounds very yummy!
I love the lottery seating cards. Such a great idea which I may just end up using!
Thanks! XOXO
A very popular option here in Tuscany this here are wedding seating plans made with corks 🙂
But we used a lot also cards made from fabric and hung from the limbs of a native Tuscan tree!
