HOW TO STYLE A MEXICAN THEMED TABLE
With Cinco De Mayo just a few days away we wanted to go through the perfect way to style up a traditional looking Mexican table. In case you hadn’t realised me and Emily are huge fans of lots of bright colours and bold patters so it’s no surprise this type of theme is one of our absolute favourites! Photographer Candy Acosta and stylists Energia Events got together with a whole bunch of other suppliers to provide some beautiful inspiration on this tasty table top, all you need to do is read on to find out how you can recreate this look…
HOW TO STYLE A MEXICAN THEMED TABLE…
First things first you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got the right items on hand before you start styling, items like margarita glasses, colourful bottles, bright flowers and even coloured lanterns are great for bulking out the table and adding those necessary pops of colour! At the heart of your Mexican table is of course a Mexican table runner, don’t worry about matching the colours to the rest of your decor, as long as it has that classic striped look you’re onto a winner!
To start, place your table runner along the centre of your table, then create your place settings using the cutlery and crockery that you have to hand, you may also want to add any stationery such as menus at this point on top of your plates! Now grab your colourful bottles, fill them with bright flowers and dot them along the table runner! Next, add in your lanterns and margarita glasses (the traditional Mexican glasses normally have a blue rim around the top). If you’ve got table numbers now would also be a great time to pop them on!
Finally, as a bonus, hang some beautiful papel picado above the table to complete the look and even add ‘Novia & Novio’ (Bride & Groom) signs to the newlywed’s chairs! Job done!

i absolutely love Mexican styling, the richness and vibrancy of the colours, the textures of the fabric, it’s lovely. I also love the day of the dead skulls – we picked one up on holiday in Mexico a few years ago, but I’m sure they can be bought on line. I also think that adding lots of religious and crucifix paraphernalia in can look awesome – I have a cross which had little metal charms nailed to it. Although granted, it’s not a look for everyone!
