6 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO WHEN PLANNING A WEDDING!
Planning a wedding is probably one of the most exciting things you will ever do in your life but there is no doubt that it can also be one of the most stressful. If you are in the process of wedding planning you may have already started to encounter the challenges that can come with it. So in order to prepare you for what’s to come we’ve listed our top 6 things your should never do.
1. Never over stretch yourself!
Whether it be your time or your budget, don’t take on more than you can handle! There is no doubt that at times you will find planning your wedding stressful, so be prepared and make sure you only take on what you can realistically achieve. If you have your heart set on DIY’ing your entire wedding but work full time, go to the gym 5 days a week, look after children & have other commitments at weekends, there is a good chance you will not have the time or energy to take on so much responsibility, you will be setting yourself up for months of stress, probably some tears and ultimately disappointment. So just don’t do it, perhaps just concentrate on DIY’ing one or two things instead.
The same can be said for budget. The first thing you should do before planning or booking anything for your wedding is set a budget. This will help you look for vendors in your price range and ensure you don’t spend the first 10 years of marriage paying off a very expensive credit card bill.
2. Never Let People Persuade You Otherwise!
Weddings can stir up some pretty strong emotions especially when it comes to things like tradition and who should and shouldn’t be invited. Ultimately if you are paying for your own wedding you should be able to do whatever the hell you want. Difficulty can sometimes arise when someone else is paying for your wedding, in which case the feelings of the person footing the bill should probably be taken into account, however the final choice should always be yours whether it be your theme, colour, venue, food, dress etc. It’s your wedding day, do it your way, you will only come to regret it, if you don’t!
3. Never Expect Your Wedding to Look Like Those in Magazines & on Blogs.
On one hand they can help you gather inspiration and ideas on the other hand they can start to make you lose sight of reality. These publications exist purely to act as inspiration and no matter how hard you try, your wedding isn’t and shouldn’t look like it belongs on the pages of a glossy magazine. Not saying it won’t end up there, but the main focus of your wedding should be you and your love for one another. Expecting your wedding to look a certain way will only be setting yourself up for disappointment.
Instead take a look at what other couples have drawn up on for inspiration for their own weddings. Some might have incorporated a shared hobby, jobs or favourite country, think about how you can inject your own personalities into your wedding day and look forward to creating your very own one of a kind wedding day.
4. Never Forget Your Guests (If You’re Inviting any?)
Although your wedding day should 100% be about you, it is important to remember your guests if you are inviting them. Many will have travelled to celebrate with you, spent money on outfits and gifts and the least you can do is make sure they are well fed, watered, entertained and thanked. Ask any married couple and they will tell you, one of the best parts of their day was celebrating with their nearest and dearest, so don’t forget them when scheduling your day.
5. Never Turn Down a Helping Hand
It is only natural to want to do everything yourself for your wedding and I know many couples that have planned a wedding without help, but I 100% think the most organised and least stressful weddings have been those that have been put together with the help of family and friends. Often couples feel like they don’t want to burden others but if someone offers a helping hand and you think you could do with it, don’t be afraid to say ‘YES’. Honestly if they didn’t want to help they wouldn’t have asked in the first place and you could be surprised by how much money and time your will save.
6. Never Forget What Your Wedding is Really About!
Ultimately your wedding day should be about celebrating your love for one another. Remember to not get too caught up in the colours, the decor, and the food as these will only last one day. Instead focus on sharing and creating memories, showing your support for one another and make your wedding day the start of a strong and loving marriage.

Great article, with some great tips. The pictures look amazing.
The most important one I think is to “never forget what your wedding is really about” and also don’t expect the wedding like in mag or blogs lol.
BTW, the bride’s hair picture is one great idea.
