THIS STORY BOOK WEDDING IS FULL OF HIDDEN TREASURES
This story book wedding is like something straight out of a fairy tale! A tin church, a whimsical reception and Katya Katya Shehurina dress fit for a princess.
“Jack and I got engaged on Christmas Day in 2014 after being together for 10 years, but I still wasn’t expecting it when he proposed!!” Sophie told us.
“He knows I’m a big kid so he organised a treasure hunt all around the house and ended up under a tree we used to hang out under when we were first together. He hung candles and fairy lights everywhere and the last clue read ‘will you marry me?’. To top it off… he had organised a surprise engagement party of all our family back at his house afterwards. It was an amazing Christmas!”
“I always knew I wanted a lace, long-sleeved dress so this helped narrow down my choices a bit. I researched online a lot and eventually found designer Katya Katya Shehurina. She has a beautiful little boutique in Soho and I went down and fell in love with all her dresses! After trying on 7, the last one I tried was ‘the one’ – Floriana. To make it a bit different, I opted for a light blue slip to wear under the lace to give a bit of colour and make it more ‘me’. The whole experience of getting the dress was amazing and the staff in the shop are lovely.” Sophie explained.
“Also… I had three pairs of shoes. I love shoes.” she added.
“There were quite a few amazing moments at our wedding. Three of our friends sang ‘Amazing Grace’ pretty much A Capella during the ceremony and that was a really special moment. Jack didn’t know that one of his friends, Ed, had been rehearsing with two of my bridesmaids to sing this so it was a pretty special surprise for him! We also got our whole congregation to do a sing-a-long to Bob Marley ‘Is This Love’ and Jack’s 90-year old Nana loves reggae so that went down well!”
“Our first dance was to seal ‘Kiss From a Rose’ which got everyone singing along. I think one of the best moments was straight after this… a 10-piece brass band came into the ballroom through the garden double doors and circled us on the dance floor playing their first cover ‘Thrift Shop’ by Macklemore & Lewis which surprised our congregation and also got everyone dancing instantly! When everyone had had quite a few drinks, we organised for a pizza van to rock up and serve unlimited wood fired pizzas…. pretty good.”
“The venue was so special as well. It has loads of accommodation and ‘hidden treasures’ such as yurts and gypsy caravans which meant all our friends and family could stay on site. A lot of people stayed for the whole weekend hanging out and enjoying the amazing surroundings in the Shropshire Hills. Our friends made an outdoor screen for us to project our favourite childhood films onto and we had hay bales and popcorn for people to watch as a break from the dancing!”

Wow!! Your wedding planning was awesome and you managed everything perfectly.
Thanks!
What a beautiful and sweet day. I loved learning how part of their wedding party sang during their ceremony and their guests started singing during their first dance! Congrats to a beautiful couple!
This was a really nice theme idea!
