DIY CHRISTMAS CONFETTI ICE BUCKET
If you’ve been reading Bespoke Bride since August you would have seen the beautiful Confetti Bucket DIY in collab with Shropshire Petals! I absolutely adored making that ice bucket and loved the way it turned out so much that I wanted to try and recreate one with a Christmas spin! An ice bucket that would be the perfect centre piece for any table and really show off the glitz and glam of Christmas! This year, in our house, the festive theme is metallics so I really wanted my ice bucket to match and include lots of golds, coppers and bronze shades! Let’s get going shall we?
YOU WILL NEED:
Metallic confetti (I went for gold stars) // Crystal type confetti // Glitter // Tinsel // 1 large bucket // 1 smaller bucket (it needs to fit inside the large bucket but also be big enough to hold a bottle) // stones //
STEP 1:
Take your large bucket and fill it with 2-3 inches of water then pop in the freezer and allow to freeze.
STEP 2:
Next, grab the smaller bucket and place inside the larger one then weigh it down with stones to ensure it doesn’t float when we add in the extra water!
STEP 3:
Add another 2 inches of water to the bucket next and sprinkle in some glitter, then allow to freeze.
STEP 4:
Next add another 2 inches of water and add in more glitter and some of your confetti, then allow to freeze.
STEP 5:
Keep repeating this process 2 inches at a time adding more and more confetti, crystals and tinsel as you go, then when you reach to the top section really pack in your tinsel and glitter (as this will be the bit that shows the most) then fill in the last 2 inches of water and freeze.
STEP 6:
We now want to remove the bucket, so start by taking out the stones from the middle and fill that smaller bucket with hot water. Let it sit for a while then pour it out. Next run warm water all around the outside of the bucket, I decided to tip it upside in the sink while I did this and eventually I was able to just lift the bucket away!
So what do you guys think?! It’s SO sparkly isn’t it!! Just remember that when you serve it make sure you pop it in some sort of tray, bowl or container, as the bottom will begin to melt and you won’t want it going all over the surface! Oh and just a heads up…this DIY does tend to get glitter everywhere but hey…who doesn’t love glitter?! xx
