Glos Wed Tweetup at Hyde Barn in the Cotswolds: The Importance of Networking.
Last week we were giving the honour of being the official bloggers at the latest Glos Wed tweetup at Hyde Barn in the Cotswolds. We have always enjoyed the tweetups, but this one felt especially fantastic. Not only was the venue just out of this world gorgeous, but the venue also played host to some of the best local wedding and event stylists EVER!!
First let us tell why we think the tweetups are so darn awesome and so hugely important when it comes to networking.
♥ The tweetups offer a chance to maintain relationships with others in the wedding business. Working in this industry can be lonely at times and being bloggers we know how easy it is to forget there is actually a real world out there, so its nice to put faces to names and have a general natter with people.
♥ They people you will meet at these events open up a world of inspiration. Meeting with others and chatting over your ideas, we have found to be a great way to work on some collaborations that will ineveitably help to promote both your businesses.
♥ They are a great way to get referrals. The great thing about the tweetups is that everyone gives out their business cards and in return will always ask for yours. Those that have taken your business card are likely to refer a bride and groom to you if your business is something they need. Nothing is better than another business giving you their stamp of approval.
♥ Not only will the people you meet at tweetups have the chance to refer you to perspective clients, there is always a chance that they will also refer you to another business that could give you some awesome propects.
♥ The people you meet at networking events such as these are a good source of information when it comes to find out the latest news and trends that could affect your business.
♥ And putting all the businessy stuff aside they are generally great bloomin fun!
OK so now we have the business stuff out of the way lets get down to the fun part!
As we mentioned earlier this tweetup showcased the work of some local event stylists, and gosh we were just amazed at how much effort each and every stylist had put into their creations.
Let us first introduce you to Finesse Planning and the House of Bunting. Now as we have said, everyone that had styled a table at the Hyde Barn tweetup had gone all out, but for us this one had to be our favourite. We think it was mainly because it was Twilight week and this table beared such a resemblance to the decor at Bella & Edwards wedding. (Sad we know but at least we admit to being twi-hards!)
Ruth Hunter is the master mind behind this little beauty, otherwise known as the Hunter Table. (See what she did there?) The chandelier made perfect use of the beams in the barn and the foliage and flowers added an enchancting touch. The silver goblets really stood out against the dark of the table cloth and the choice of white roses hanging from the chandelier was a great alternative to the avergae floral display.
The table also included a cake courtesy of Curtis & Co, made especially to fit in with the hunter theme. The great thing about this table is that it can suit any budget. Things can easily be added and taken away without losing the essence of the style.
The next table to grab our attention with its ‘pretty’ was that of Jessie Thomson weddings & Events. May we say this was a very trendy table with the theme being mint green and gold. Jessie had mixed DIY details such as a tassel garland, cookie favours and bowtie napkins with a very modern mint green ombre cake and tin vases filled with babys breath and succulents to create a table that was playful yet elegant.
We musn’t forget to mention that the ombre mint green cake and mini cookies were baked by Made by Marie Green, the cute letterpress stationary was designed by Cherry Press and the floral designs were by Rose Hamson.
One of our favourite touches on Jessies table had to be these glitter dipped feathers. What an unique little idea?
Ombre seemed to be a theme endorsed by another on the night. Finesse Planning and the House of Bunting were also the creative minds behind this Ombre blue themed table.
We couldn’t help but think that this would be great for a beach wedding. The blue ombre cake made by Curtis & Co was impressive to say the least. The chandeliers and chair ties were made out of material strands that had been cut and curled with a hot iron.
The wonderful Claire Lee from Lillyfee Floral Designs also graced the evening with her presence and her beautiful english country garden themed table.
We loved these Mr and Mrs wreathes and look at these cute little clay pots.
The tweetup at Hyde Barn was a brilliant excuse to ‘ooo’ and ‘ahh’ over all things pretty, as well as to network over a glass of vino and some scrummy canapes. We met so many lovely faces and other stylists, such as Kathryn Griffiths of Notebook weddings, Rebecca Kimber of Event Stlye and Tricia Prince from Cotswolds Party Vintage HIre.
The stylists weren’t the only ones on the night to be grabbing our attention however, we were mesmorized by the magic of Darren Campbell – think Dynamo. This guy actually put our Iphones in balloons, which was a slightly scary moment but they were returned to us safe and sound – phew!
We also had the pleasure of meeting Nick Higgs from Pizza Monkey a mobile pizza man with his very own wood-fire. Ideal for festival weddings the idea has come straight from a pretty rad concept called street food. Be sure to check out Pizza Monkey, whenever possible Nick will always try to top his pizza’s with homegrown produce now that sounds yummy!!
