#BBAREALBRIDE: SOPHIE’S HEN PARTY WEEKEND
PHOTOGRAPHY BY DEVLIN PHOTOS & BESPOKE BRIDE
We’ve decided to shake things up around here with our blogging schedule, so pretty soon you’re going to be seeing more personal posts from us, more advice posts, some fun party food recipes and even more DIYs but we’ll talk more about that in another post soon, for now, we wanted to share with you what we got up to on our friend Sophie’s hen do a couple of weeks ago! Most of you will know Sophie from Crown and Glory (if you don’t then go check out her awesome accessories!), we’ve been following her wedding journey since she got engaged and won our #BBARealBride competition with Zazzle! We also shared her gorgeous wedding invitations back in May. Anyway, to say we were excited for her hen party was an understatement. We just knew that when you bring a bunch of bloggers and creatives together for the same party there was going to be a lot of fun, photo taking and even cuter goodie bags! Here’s what we got up to with our weekend in Dover…
FRIDAY SLUMBER VIBES
In classic Jess and Emily style we set off for our trip thinking it was going to take far less time than it actually would! In our defence, the sat nav told us it would take us 3 and a half hours to get to Dover from the good ol forest of dean but my oh my how wrong it was! Despite us setting off at 1:30pm we didn’t actually get there until 6 hours later! ha! Good job we me and Em can talk each others ears of (although at one point in the journey we did have to resort to some good old fashioned car games! We gave I spy a miss though!)
Once we arrived we were treated to a delicious veggie chilli made by Veronica Dearly and then it was straight into a wine tasting session! I don’t actually like wine but it was pretty interesting to learn about them and to pretend to be sophisticated by swishing it around the glass and trying to figure out what I thought each wine smelt like!
We finished the night with matching PJs, our slumber party eye masks and Soph had a taster of some of our hen party games! Bless her she had to take a shot for every question she got wrong in ‘The Groom Said What’ game and…well….let’s just say she was pretty darn sloshed by the end of it! She had massive skills though, I could not have handled it!
SATURDAY SPARKLES
There were some heavy heads on Saturday morning and the perfect way to ease everyone into the day (after a pretty intense health and safety talk) was with a dip in the indoor swimming pool! There was also some gorgeous tropical decor going on in there and who could resist chilling in the hot tub?! So we hung out here for a few hours, chatted and a had a couple more drinks and then it was time to get ready for the evening ahead!
Saturday night was all about the sparkles baby! We headed into Canterbury dressed head to toe in glitter and sequins and our first stop The Pound, a cool bar that used to be a police station. Inside we found lots of neon signs, old cells that had been transformed into private table rooms and a bunch of pretty darn delicious cocktails. I was in my element with the passionfruit mojitos!
2 drinks and a bag of crisps later it was over to Lush for a fun filled mini party! We had the entire scented shop to ourselves and kicked things off with a tutorial on mixing up our own face masks, next we were all seated around a table and treated to a little hand massage with the ‘Rub Rub Rub’ one of my absolute fave products! Then we played a game where each of us had to mould something naughty out of their ‘fun’ products! This caused a lot of giggles as you can imagine and there was even a prize for the best sculpture! ha! Next we were each handed a mini shopping basket and got to peruse the entire shop for something to take away with us! We had a £10 spend each and I got myself a tub of the Rub Rub Rub and a fun little tea tree toner tab! Our choices were then added into our individual goodie bags (goodie bags from Lush eek!) and then we played a final game of being blindfolded and having to kiss a poster of a muscle man haha (with Lush’s lipsticks of course!)
The event was finished off with a lovely glitter arm and hand massage each and then we headed off for some dinner, goodie bags in hand! If anyone is interested in having a hen party activity at one of the lush stores we would definitely recommend it! I think we payed £25 each and then we got a £10 spend while we were in the shop and got to take a goodie bag away so it’s well worth it! The rest of the Saturday night was all about tapas, dancing and cocktails! We actually headed back The Pound after dinner (I obviously had to get more passionfruit mojitos!)
SUNDAY FUNDAY
Once we all surfaced on Sunday, me and Emily packed up the car (we didn’t even deflate the ice lolly float haha) and got ready for a day at Dreamland, Margate and let me tell you, we were not disappointed by the vintage funfair!
There was a colourful ferris wheel, an abundance of candy floss, rainbow slides, bunches of balloons and even a roller disco! We were gutted we didn’t have time to hit the roller disco but we more than made up for it with the slides!
Sadly after Dreamland it was time for us to head home, but now we can’t wait for the wedding! Not long to go! xx
