DIY THIS EASY RETRO SHAPES BACKDROP
Can you tell that we love making backdrops? We’ve created a fair few of them over the past couple of years like our easy geometric heart backdrop, our emoji heart backdrop, this balloon wall backdrop and even a HUGE cascading flower backdrop! What can I say, we love a statement wall! I am pleased to tell you though that retro shapes backdrop couldn’t be easier to make! Here’s how to recreate it…
YOU WILL NEED:
Card in a variety of colours (as you can see we went with different shades of pink, yellow, blues, orange and mint) // Blue tac //
Ok so that really is all you need, if you want to you can cut these shapes out by hand or use a stencil to create the shapes but we found that it would be so much quicker to just let the Cricut machine cut them out for us in a variety of shapes! So the choice is yours, if you have a machine then turn that baby on! If not, grab yourself some scissors and start cutting.
STEP 1:
Cut out a bunch of shapes in a variety of colours. We went for different sizes of squares, circles, semi circles, squiggly lines and long rectangles. You’ll need to cut around 80-90 shapes to cover a wall big enough to stand two people in front of, but depending on how big or small you want this then vary the number you cut out.
STEP 2:
Stick blue tack or white tack over the corners of each of the spaces, we find it’s so much easier and quicker to create the backdrop when this is already done instead of adding the tack as you go along.
STEP 3:
Start to stick some shapes on the wall! You’ll want to add some shapes by themselves and others in groups of 2 to 5, be sure to vary up the direction of the squiggly lines too and make sure no two colours are too close together!
Now all that’s left to do is stand in front of it and strike a pose! Enjoy! xx
