DIY THESE CUTE DRINKS TASSELS (+ A DELICIOUS PICNIC SPRITZ RECIPE BY THE ENVOY)
Woo happy Monday you guys! We’re kicking off the week with a fun and easy guest DIY that’s sure to let us cling on to summer that little bit longer! Today we’re welcoming Erin from Berin Made to the blog, she’s going to be sharing a couple more DIYs over the next few weeks too that we just know you guys are going to LOVE! (And if you do, then you’ll want to make sure you grab a copy of her book Paper Parties, it’s PERFECT for the DIYer who loves to throw fun get togethers!) Anyway, over to you Erin…
Wasn’t summer glorious? Long days filled with picnics in the park, floral dresses, and blue skies… If, like me, you’re not quite ready for it to be over, then bring a little of the bright flowery goodness to your next soiree with friends with these sweet drinks tassels!
YOU WILL NEED:
- Multicoloured Embroidery Floss (you’ll need green for the stems)
- x1 5cm tall piece of card
- Scissors
- Wine Charms
STEP 1:
Wrap one roll of embroidery floss around the piece of card.
STEP 2:
Wrap the green floss crosswise around the colourful embroidery floss for 2cm.
STEP 3:
Fold the green part in half and wrap more green floss around the two sides then tie it off.
STEP 4:
Cut the looped ends of the colourful floss and fluff the ends up.
STEP 5:
Give it a final trim and hook on the ring to finish up this wine charm!
So now that you’ve got your cute drinks tassels you’re gonna want a delicious cocktail to put inside the glasses right?! Here’s The Envoy to share their picnic spritz recipe!
Cucumber Gin
To prepare, slice up 200g of cucumbers, discard both ends to avoid bitterness. Pour 1 btl of gin into an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 24 hours (or until desired intensity of flavour is achieved). Strain out cucumbers and pour gin back into bottle. Label accordingly.
Rosehip & Hibiscus Tea Cordial
Measure 12 grams of loose tea leaves (Dilmah Rosehip & Hibiscus tea) and cover with 200ml of hot water. Brew for 5 minutes, then strain out tea. Add in the same amount of fine white sugar to the volume of tea, and add 5g of citric acid (if needed, replace with lemon juice). Stir well and pour into clean bottle. Label accordingly and keep chilled.
Picnic Spritz Cocktail
Using a cocktail jigger / measuring cup, measure in 45ml of cucumber gin, 75ml of red apple juice, 30ml of rosehip & hibiscus tea cordial, and 45ml of soda water into a wine glass. Add ice cubes and stir well. Garnish with a fresh slice of cucumber and a sprig of mint. Voila!
