Jewelry Care 101: Keeping Your Treasures Shining
THE SEARCH IS OVER, WE’VE BOOKED OUR WEDDING VENUE!
As many of you will have guessed from the title, after years of searching we’ve FINALLY booked our wedding venue. Yayyy!! I’ve been dying to tell you for so long!!
Last time I spoke about venues, we were planning on forgoing a traditional wedding and heading to Mexico for a intimate ceremony with just a few family and friends. Since then things have not quite gone to plan. After unsuccessfully trying to book two different venues in Mexico, I’d heard that a new wedding venue was being launched near where we lived and that they’d be holding their first wedding fayre that summer. I hinted to Mr T that I’d like to take a look, as we were still looking for a reception venue for when we got back, so on the hottest day of the year we took ourselves down to the Mounton Brook Lodge in Pwllmeyric and I instantly fell in love. The venue was exactly what I’d been looking for! The large open windows and high beamed ceilings, meant that the space looked light and airy and the white walls made it the blank canvas I’d desperately wanted. I could see us getting married there already.
I knew I was going to have to break it to Mr T that I was having second thoughts about getting married in Mexico. I’d been wondering if we were making the right decision for a while now. I explained to him tearfully, that we’d spent so much time planning a wedding that was solely about us that I felt that we’d lost sight of what we actually wanted. When we first started to talk about a destination wedding it was mainly based around the things we loved to do together, travel and spending time together. But personally I think we made it a little too simple?
Getting married in Mexico would mean not being able to have either of my grandmothers there, both of whom I’m extremely close to. It would mean, not having my brothers, my nieces, my nephew, most of my friends. It would mean Mr T not having most of his family and friends either. I also reminded him that a destination wedding wouldn’t be like our usual relaxing holidays. It would be slightly more stressful, trying to do last minute weddings things in 35 degree heat as well as feeling like we had to entertain family and friends. I mean no offence, we love them to pieces but it certainly wouldn’t be just the two of us spending quality time together.
So, it was back to the drawing board. For the both of us it was important to have a small and intimate ceremony. We wanted the whole day to be simple and relaxed, I wanted to do what I’m best at – DIY, we both wanted a HUGE party for the reception and to satisfy our love of travel we’d book an epic honeymoon, just the two of us. We’d originally planned to get married in March of this year, but decided to push it back to September to give ourselves a few extra months to organize everything, now we’d made so many changes.
That night I sent an inquiry to Charlotte, the owner of Mounton Brook Lodge with our chosen date and was pleased to find that it was available, so we pretty much reserved our date immediately. Yayyyy!!!
So whats the plan. Well we all know I like things to be simple and I want the schedule of the day to reflect that. We’ll be having a civil ceremony in the Old Forge stone barn which is attached to the lodge and our reception will be in the lodge itself, just a corridor away. I think it will probably be a quick ceremony than straight into the bar for Pimms, whilst the wedding party head off to do photos. One of the things I’m most excited about is trying the wedding food as it will all be totally VEGAN. I’ve obviously been thinking about the decor ALOT too and I now have the vision for what it’s going to look like in my mind. I don’t want to give to much away but let’s just say it involves lots of colour and a ton of DIY.
That’s pretty much everything we have planned for now. By the end of this month, I’m hoping to have bought my dress and booked both a videographer and a band. Not too much to do then 😀
In case your wondering, these are our official engagement photos courtesy of the best business partner in the whole wide world, Jessica and they were actually taken at Mounton Brook Lodge, for a number of reasons. First to get an idea of what the actual wedding photos will look like, in regards to lighting, backgrounds etc, as you can probably tell photography has been a really important part of our planning process. Second, we wanted to have photos that represented the two of us and third, our outfits are a nod towards just some of the details that will be included on our wedding day. Hint hint!!

Admission is free, they just ask that you let us know your time preference as if the last fayre is anything to go by, it’s likely to be an extremely busy day.
We’d seen this venue to get married in it looks beautiful but I couldn’t find any information on accommodation. Do you know if there is accommodation on site?

Hi Flora, there isn’t any accommodating at the venue but there are hotels and B&B’s near by 🙂
