Bright Lights and Big Rides: How to Plan a Luna Park Wedding That’s Full of Colour and Fun!
BEAUTIFUL MODERN YET TRADITIONAL INSPIRATION FOR YOUR INDIAN WEDDING
A modern take on a traditional Indian wedding is the theme for today’s inspiration. Stylist, stationery designer and photographer Anna of Rose, Paper, Scissors was inspired by an invitation she had created inspired by the bright colours and decorative elements that feature in Indian fabric designs and henna, making it perfect for an Indian wedding. Further inspiration come from the hanging carnations that are often featured in Indian weddings which led to a modern take on the table flower displays and then fun, interactive, folded menus. Anna shares her tips on how to recreate the look for yourself.
If you have chosen to have a non-religious ceremony but are looking to include cultural elements as a nod towards your Indian heritage, here are some ideas on how to style your venue and also yourself on your wedding day.
Stationery
Taking traditional patterns and giving them a modern twist is a great way of bringing in aspects of your culture to your wedding stationery. We created this pattern after being inspired by the shapes found in Indian fabrics and henna designs. Featuring them as bold, block shapes as opposed to delicate paintings or drawings is also a way of making them appear less traditional. Adding in a modern calligraphy or brush font can also make all the difference in giving your stationery a more modern feel.
Making sure your colour palette is really vibrant not only reflects lots of Indian fabrics but it also creates a fun vibe for your wedding. This means when your guests receive their colourful invitations, they know to expect a good time!
Adding little details like tassels onto your stationery items keeps them on trend and makes them more fun and interactive (it also makes them a nice keepsake too!)
Styling
Pairing vibrant colours against the stark, fresh white of a tablecloth is a great way to make impact on your tables. Adding in a splash of metallic gold, like we did with our charger plates, is not only on trend right now but gives a subtle nod to the beautiful threads and colours often featured in Indian fabrics and art.
Taking flowers that are traditionally used during celebrations in your culture and displaying them differently is a great way of adding a modern twist to your wedding. We used carnations to make a hanging curtain display and then continued using them as centrepieces on the tables. Traditional wedding flower arrangements are often arranged in a symmetrical manner so we chose to display ours in an abstract, unsymmetrical style to add a modern look to the table.
A hanging carnation curtain can be used for a ceremony backdrop or/and as a hanging display behind your top table. It could even be used as a backdrop for a photo wall for your guests to pose in front of or behind the DJ decks.
Bridal Attire
