THESE HIGH SCHOOL SWEET HEARTS POSED FOR WEDDING PHOTOS AT THEIR OLD SCHOOL HOUSE
PeterJon and Ashley’s story has so many unique facets. First of all, they are best known for their professional careers in the sport of Spikeball. They are the top players in the nation (just ask ESPN!) They were also high school sweethearts! In the pictures you’ll see an old, one-room school house where PeterJon asked Ashely to be his girlfriend years ago, where they occasionally went on dates, and THEN where he proposed! So, it was only fitting that the couple had their wedding pictures at the school house as well! Their wedding had so many details! The ceremony took place behind Ashley’s house under a huge, old oak tree, and the reception in her backyard. A doughnut board, colorful flowers, feeding each other ice cream instead of cake, beautiful mismatched goblets…so many colors and details!
“We chose my parents house because we wanted a big wedding. Big wedding means a lot of money and it makes it so difficult to find a venue. Plus, we thought it would be really cool if we had it at my home,” Ashley began.
“It was pretty special to see everyone working together to get ready for the wedding at our home. My parents have a beautiful big yard with a pond and a woods in the back. The woods is actually our neighbor’s, who kindly let us do whatever we needed to, to get ready for the wedding back there. There’s a huge oak tree in a large clearing in the woods. When you walk into the clearing that’s the first thing your eyes are drawn to so we thought it just made sense to have the ceremony under that beautiful tree,” she continued.
“We love being outdoors and wanted the wedding to accentuate the natural beauty around us. Since we got married in the fall, we made it a point to make the colors bright and colorful since we both love summertime and wanted it to have more that feeling.”
“We did do some DIY projects. My favorite one was Pinterest inspired. I saw a picture of a bunch of different print and texture cloths hanging from a line about 6 feet up in the air blowing in the wind. We decided to use this concept as the break between where you walk into the ceremony since it was in an open clearing. My uncle stained old doors (for the entrance of the ceremony) and hung a cable 25 feet out on either side attached to a post. From the cable we tied white cloths of various print and texture about 8 feet in the air. My mom headed up this amazing project and named the barrier a ‘swag’,” Ashley explained.
“Most of our suppliers were our friends in the community. Tina, our wedding coordinator, has been a long time friend of both of our families. Stutzman Catering actually live only about 1 mile from our house and catered for my brothers wedding as well. Roxanne of Perla Flor Designs is actually a relative of my family. Stacy Conner of Rustic Roots Salon is actually the sister of my matron of honor, and someone I’ve known many years. Jessica, of Jessica Photography, I’ve known most of my school life. She was a secretary at my school when I was in elementary and her dad was my high school volleyball coach. We have a close knit community, which made it so easy to pick all of the super talented people involved in our wedding cause we automatically trust and love each of them.”
