Bright Lights and Big Rides: How to Plan a Luna Park Wedding That’s Full of Colour and Fun!

Whether your planning a wedding by the ocean, trying to choose a colour scheme or just looking for decor, event planner Jeanne shares her tips on where to start and how inspiration can be closer to home than you think.
Todays inspiration was the brainchild of Jeanne Coon-Bogarth, founder of Bogath Weddings & Events. Keen to highlight Parkers Garage and it’s cool nautical vibe Jeanne found inspiration in a single photo.
“I found a the listing for a mustard yellow silk table runner from Lino & Co. on Etsy. I became obsessed with the color of the runner, and knew it would be perfect for a late summer beach theme,” she began.
“Parkers Garage is not your typical water front venue. There were a few things I love about the space, but one of the best parts is the “wall” that faces the water. It’s the perfect backdrop for an arbor or sweet heart table. And, when the sun sets, it’s absolutely amazing! It’s also a short walk to the ocean, where many couples choose to have their ceremony, but the space is large enough for a small wedding ceremony to be held indoors in the event of rain.”
“The antique 1968 Mercedes Benz, was sitting in the lot of a local paint store for sale. All I did was drive past it every day for two months, before inspiration hit. I called the number on the sales listing and asked if we could borrow it for the shoot in exchange for professional photos of the car,” she explained.
“Typically, when working with couples, I will advise them to consider their favorite colors and the decor in their home. It allows them to develop a theme and color scheme that fit with objects and items that they already have and can affordably incorporate into their wedding day decor without having to spend more money. And if they do buy items, they will be able to easily use them to decorate around their home, with objects that now have the added sentiment of having been a part of their wedding day. I have found that when couples take this approach their wedding day theme and color scheme feel much more authentic.”
“I tell my couples to start by “shopping” around their own home for things they can use to style their day. Incorporate details that make you happy, that will “live a life” and serve a purpose after the wedding. Nothing is worse than ending up with tons of decor that you are trying to sell for a fraction of what you paid, or that sit, packed up, in your garage. Before you buy something for your wedding, ask yourself three questions: Do I love this? How exactly am I going to use this to enhance our wedding day design? And, how will I continue to use this after my wedding day? If you don’t have great answers to all three, think the purchase over and consider skipping it, or finding a more affordable approach,” she added.
“I think the design of this shoot would beautifully translate to many venues where a couple is looking to highlight a beach vibe. One of my favorite parts of this shoot’s design was the incorporation of really high-end details that did not seem overly beachy. But were fun, hip, and unique.”
