With the cold winter months before us, today’s team of vendors planned this exotic Cuban inspo whilst daydreaming of warm tropical nights with intensely hued pops of color, transporting them from the thought of the long grey winter days ahead. Wanting to create an unexpected wedding style in the heart of the Midwest was intentional. The team aimed to capture the essence of an exotic + vivid color palette, mingled fresh fruit, tropical flora, colorful Cuban-inspired plates, vintage decor with a dose of romanticism, all executed with a clean, modern eye.
“Thoughtfully curated wedding design, you can do yourself. This style shoot was inspired by the vibrant Cuban-inspired colorful plates that were part of my personal collection,” began event planner Monica Orr.
“We wanted to design a tropical inspired wedding set that wasn’t what you’d expect, we used softer colored hues such as apricot and ivory, accenting with hints of bolder color in the flora and tableware. Collaborating with a local vintage rental company, allowed us to peruse all their vintage goodies and find the perfect pieces to complement our romantic, tropical influenced shoot,” she explained.
“We sourced tropical fruit, such as coconuts, bananas, pineapples, lemons, limes, prickly pear and more were easily picked up at a local Mexican grocery store and organically laid out across the center of the table. The tropical leaf wall (yes it’s real or you could use artificial leaves), was sourced from a local floral distributor who ordered it for us and the floral designer adhered it to the wall with a non-stick adhesive tape. This wall provided a focal point for the ceremony, as well as the backdrop for the intimate table setting.”
“Lastly, the wedding attire…. Finding a dress that embodied this shoot in style, design and cost was important. BHLDN offers numerous styles and at all price points. This beauty was under $1,000 and captured our essence, adding a touch of flowers in the “brides” hair and anchoring her ensemble was her stunning tropical bouquet tied with a vintage yellow ribbon.”
