“We say we were family long before a wedding day. Because of this, we decided to make our ceremony as homely as possible. To accent the meaningfulness of the moment, we chose a bohemian style marked with the white and red color palette.”
“Being passionate about sustainability and proud supporters of local communities, we strived to reduce unnecessary waste while planning our wedding. Where possible, we put our wedding dollars towards supporting local artists or to products which would have a life beyond our wedding,” she explained.
“To highlight the bohemian wedding conception, we had huge bouquets of red and white flowers everywhere: in the hands of the bride and bridesmaids, in the buttonholes of men, in any corner of the wedding venue. It was a riot of flowers. Our wedding favors were cotton produce bags containing two metal straws, a thank you card and homemade beeswax wrap made with beeswax we sourced from our local farmers’ market. Tom carved a love heart into a potato and we used this to stamp the bags.” Cathryn explained.
“We wanted our wedding to be eco-friendly, Tom had already worn his suit before he wore it to our wedding, whilst I wore a two-piece outfit; the long-sleeved lace top purchased during a holiday in Tokyo and the skirt custom-made locally in Melbourne.”
“Don’t focus on the many needless elements of wedding décor. Happiness and a special wedding atmosphere can be created without a myriad of material things. The happiness of our parents and closest was so anticipated for us, it made our day. Warm, sincere emotions colored celebration in all the hues of the rainbow. Focus on this and you’ll not only save the environment but your efforts and your money as well.”
