Bright Lights and Big Rides: How to Plan a Luna Park Wedding That’s Full of Colour and Fun!
COLOURFUL BOHO WEDDING INSPIRATION THAT YOU CAN THRIFT!
Inspired by her love of color, photographer Nicole Kameenui wanted to create a festive gathering that would appeal to couples with the same love. It’s definitely not boring! With much of the decor from stores like Pier 1 and World Market, this inspiration is perfect for DIYers!
“The venue for this shoot was called the Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve. It is simply perfect for couples who are looking for a venue that has it all. There are numerous outdoor locations scattered across the property for ceremonies as well as their indoor buildings. We were in Heron Hall and it gives off this great modern industrial feel with its lighting, concrete flooring, open windows, and beams.” Photographer Nicole, explained.
The theme could be described as having a festive, boho vibe. I really wanted to stick to five colors as inspiration (teal, magenta, orange, yellow, and red) but did not want to be too matchy-matchy. Instead we focused on having these colors present in everything from floral, décor, and bridal accessories as well as shades that fell within the same color family. To us it was more pleasing and felt more “put together” that way. For the decor, we focused on choosing unique pieces that would stand out such as the single flower bud holders and pom-pom napkin rings.”
“I really owe everything to my wonderful creative team! When approaching them, a lot of them had their own ideas on how their respective roles could contribute to make the inspiration come to life. Jaclyn of Timeless Weddings NC absolutely nailed the styling for the shoot. She went out to the different stores such as Pier 1 and the World Market to find pieces that would work with the theme, also pulling pieces that she had in her own collection. Whilst Jana of The Lost Garden worked to create florals that popped with color and had a loose garden style to help in creating a homemade feel and even Miri of 10 Bloom Cakes “painted” her cake with a technique that created a fun and fresh take on wedding cakes. Really, everyone put their own personal touch on the shoot.” She told us.
“I think this shoot is a good example of mixing elements that you wouldn’t necessarily see together, for example, velvet ring boxes and feathers.”
“For couples that are styling their own weddings, it’s important for them to have a good starting point but to also venture beyond their mood boards and put together something that feels good and exciting rather than something that just looks acceptable.” Advised Nicole.
“This inspiration has a homey feel, featuring garden style florals with familiar textures and decor like linens and rugs. The long table is my favorite feature and I feel is something that couples can create on their own. The table features cut stem pieces placed in these unique holders with a central floral arrangement. A lot of the glassware can be thrifted, and the linens bought in stores. If couples can’t find the pom-pom napkin rings online, it can easily be DIY-able or replaced with tassels. The couple’s attire is simple with pops of color. A colorful bouquet with numerous ribbon sizes and colors and an equally colorful boutonniere can tie the overall look together.”
