AN INTIMATE, NON TRADITIONAL WEDDING CEREMONY AT ST GEORGES HALL, LIVERPOOL
Sarah and Bed wanted a non-traditional and relaxed wedding day. Their ceremony was at the registers office in St Georges Hall and was attended by just close family. They celebrated with a meal at their favourite restaurant before spending the evening with all their friends and family.
“Ben suffers with anxiety, so we didn’t want anything too huge or stressful.” Sarah began.
“After being disappointed with a sudden price change at our first choice of venue, we went for The Bluecoat…and we’re so glad we did! They were excellent, the people looking after us were soooo lovely, we could add our own stamp to the space (which was beautiful) and the food was delicious!”
“We didn’t really have a theme, we just wanted the day to reflect us as a couple, so we just chose things that we liked and that felt like us,” she explained.
We worked pretty well as a team and did most of the planning ourselves. It was a year from setting the date until the day itself, and it all went quite smoothly for the most part, which was great as it didn’t cause too much stress. We started by each creating a mood board of what we wanted for the day and took it from there. Ben made an epic spreadsheet so that we could keep track of everything, which helped a lot too, and we made sure all payment dates etc were written on the calendar so we wouldn’t forget.”
“We found most things online (like Rachel, our lovely photographer & the venue). My hair and makeup artist and the DJ were recommendations and we found a couple of our suppliers (such as my gorgeous hairpiece and Ben’s suit) at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza (which was a great day – we would highly recommend it!)”
“I made my own dress, our boys bow ties, the bunting for the evening venue, the flowers (my mum made the flowers on the bunting), and some little clay skulls for decoration and together we made our rings (in an awesome workshop with Noctua), the buttonholes, centrepieces, the song quotes in frames, and some cakes for the evening (again with some help from my Mum). Our friend, who is an illustrator, designed our invites and a beautiful tree to act as a guestbook for us.” Sarah told us.
“We found the Rock n Roll bride Facebook group really good for inspiration, as well as just general searches on the internet. I also found the pattern for my felt flowers from a seller on Etsy.” She added.
“Stick to what makes you happy. You’ll never be able to please everyone, so focus on pleasing yourselves and have fun! Try not to stress too much if things don’t work out exactly how you wanted…the main thing is that you’re marrying your favourite person! As long as that happens, everything else is just icing on the cake!”
