Tyler and Lexi’s Heartfelt Western September Wedding at The Urban Cowboy in Nashville, TN
THIS VIBRANT TIPI WEDDING IS BURSTING WITH COLOUR!
Today’s wedding is bursting with colour, there’s embroidered vibrant floral detailing on the bridal veil, there’s blue nails, there’s painted shoes, there’s navy maids dresses with green detailing, there’s pooches, there’s floral crowns, there’s fab fun additions such as swings and garden games. But just wait til you see the décor inside the tipis… it is absolutely breath-takingly beautiful and brimming with colour through potted pretties, bright seating plans, hand-painted signage, pots, vases – it really is the perfect vision for a kaleidoscope of colour in every detail of a wedding. We are crushing on every element!
“We dreamed of an outdoor wedding ceremony, so once we found our wonderful tipi supplier, Tipi Unique, they helped by suggesting A few locations. After visiting Stonyford Cottage Gardens, we both fell in love with it instantly – it’s really special with beautiful natural gardens. It is also somewhere we could re-visit on anniversaries, which is something lovely for the future. It was also important our two little sausages dogs; Beatrix and Delilah could be part of the day, and Stonyford were only too happy for them to be with us.” Began Julie.
“We had lots and lots of colour, and lots of plants – many of which I grew, which was so much fun. We wanted a nice relaxed festive vibe, and the giant tipis were perfect for this! It was a space that people could enjoy, where kids could run around and play whilst adults could drink in the sunshine.”
“We found our suppliers from a real mix of sources, some from wedding fairs and some online research. We chose them mostly on who we got on most with, and who showed most care and excitement about sharing our day. Our wonderful photographer Sophie (Brightwing Photography) I had known since University, so that was a super easy decision. We spoke to many tipi companies, but not one came close to Tipi Unique and Karen’s excitement and enthusiasm for making our day special.”
“Our band was a funny story…We went to a wedding fair at Capesthorne Hall and I heard Cliff (Northern Exposure) as I opened the door of my car, and chased him down to book him then and there! Our florist again was a super easy one, most suppliers all had very white and cream flowers on their stands. But Beverly’s (Flowerhouse) were every colour, and she was wearing a beautiful flower crown – I knew from that second, she was the one to make our day perfect! My wedding dress was found after Beverly recommend me Maria Modes in Macclesfield. It is such a beautiful shop, which gave me such a wonderful wedding shopping experience.” She added.
“We did lots of DIY right from the start. We started with our save the dates which were balloons, and then making mini tipis for wedding invitations. We also had a wonderful day making our wedding rings with an amazing talented lady called Charlotte Verity in Manchester Craft Centre. It gave us that amazing personal touch we were after. We made 160 paper origami rabbits for place names and grew all the plants and succulents for the day. We made a direction sign to all the locations of our tables and mileage from the venue, as well as more signage around the venue. We named our tables after places we had visited and included photos of us. Our table plan board was hand made by Chris and we sprayed lots of quirky frames – which are now hung on our fireplace. Whilst my wonderful hubby made the sweet table and cake table, which we have now changed the legs on, and are using as our coffee and dining table in our house to enjoy for years ahead.” Julie told us.
“For a present for my hubby to open on the morning, I had collated messages from around the world. I had been doing this for 2 years, and I designed it into a photo-book. I am a graphic designer, and my hubby is a design engineer, so between my creativity and Chris making things we were the perfect team. I was going to make my own jewellery, but my nan kindly gave me some pearls she wore on her wedding day, which I will treasure and pass along to my children one day. Chris also had a bracelet and earrings made by Charlotte Verity.”
“People laughed at me starting planning so early from when we got engaged and making big decisions, saying it was too far away. I felt it was the best way and meant I didn’t have to go with second choices suppliers and had enough time to make things. I’m naturally the more organised one of the two of us, but we built the vision for the day together. I had a scrapbook I kept with ideas, mood-boards, and sketches which was helpful to keep us on track – as well as a lovely memento of the planning stages. Then it was good old excel for keeping contact details and payment schedules in check!
“Our family and friends helped in so many ways, they were invaluable to us. It took in total 2 and a half years to plan and create everything. The readings for the ceremony were all selected by our sisters and friends, so that they were really personal. We wrote our own promises too which was lovely to do. It meant they could be individual, and not too cringey, and we both brought a bit of humour and personality to them.”
“In the months leading up to the wedding for all brides and grooms, it can be full of stress, trying to get things together, logistics, and making sure everyone is happy. You can’t always win on things, but we tried our best to keep everyone happy and I wanted everyone to have the best day with us. The main worry for the day was that it would rain, and we couldn’t get married outside – Most of June 2019 was a complete washout! We were relieved when the day was the best weather possible! Other than that, the day had been planned with such detail, that I didn’t have too many worries on the day itself.”
“My only thing I would have changed from our day would have been my grandad making it to see me in my dress and walk me down the aisle. Unfortunately, he passed away 3 weeks before the big day, which was heart-breaking. However, I know he sent us the beautiful weather, and we sent him some balloons so he could join in the celebrations.” Julie explained.
“My Main advice for other couples planning a wedding is to work with the person you love the most and ask for help and work through each problem together. Get a really clear vision of what you want, and don’t let family’s opinions ruin it. The day should reflect the two of you, no one else. It’s your day and in theory you’re only doing it once.”
“Our budget went completely out the window, but I don’t regret a second, it is all worth it to see your friends and family enjoying the day. Obviously be sensible to what you can afford but weddings are expensive – you just have to let it go! The day itself goes so fast, so pick your photographer well. They will be capturing it, and you spend so much of the day with that person. Pick someone you will have fun with and that you can trust. The question over a videographer or not… DO IT! I feel so blessed we found Floodgate Films, it’s something you cannot put a price on. Being able to revisit the day and listen to the vows and kind words said in the speeches is just amazing. And most of all, soak up every second of the day as it flies by so quickly.”
“Oh and on a side note, get someone to put food aside for you for later, you’ll be so busy that it’s hard to find time to eat!”
