KICK START THE NEW YEAR WITH THIS COLORFUL LISA FRANK BRIDAL INSPO
How excited are we, that 2021 is here! We’re still holding out hope that this year will see a return to some sort of normality even though it hasn’t been the fresh start we’d all hoped for. Our thoughts are with everyone who is struggling right now and as always we just pray that our little slice of the internet offers a bit of light in a very dark time. So let’s get to it!
Inspired by the iconic Lisa Frank, todays playful inspiration captures the essence of the designer using retro pieces, glitter and all the colours!
“Our playful styled shoot was hosted at Pretty Little Things, a vintage rental company based outside of Columbia, Missouri. Their all-white showroom provided the perfect setting for a photo shoot designed to focus on the colours, patterns, and fun details.” Began photographer, Amanda Musselman.
“When you think of Lisa Frank, you probably think back elementary school; folders, pencils, stickers, and other essential cool-girl school supplies were emblazoned with animal and alien motifs and enough rainbows to brighten anyone’s day.”
“We wanted to celebrate and capture the essence of Lisa Frank by incorporating elements of the Lisa Frank brand. We selected a colourful colour palette inspired by a Lisa Frank drawing of a leopard, we incorporated leopard print as well as colours such as yellow, purple and pink.” She added.
“As with any styled shoot, as we started to discuss other elements such as vendors we always circled back to our “why” behind the shoot and the goal of capturing our vision of a Lisa Frank inspired wedding. We styled a casual lounge area, where we envisioned a bride getting ready on her wedding day in lieu of a table setting whilst the lounge area included leopard print cookies, colourful popcorn, and a bottle of bubbly champagne.” Amanda told us.
“Sugarberry Blooms wanted to design a “wow” piece, which led their team to design a stunning colour-blocked hanging installation. This piece could easily translate to a piece for a ceremony or even hung above a head table. Or, in our case, installed above the cosy lounge area for amazing photo opportunities.”
“We had a custom gown and robe designed for our bride as it felt very appropriate for an anti-stuffy, cool bride. The cheerfully pink two-piece gown became complete with the addition of a “leopard-looking” lace overlay for the sleeves and bodice.”
“While the colour palette, theme, and elements might not translate to your wedding, our ultimate goal was to think big! There are many ways to put a unique spin on your celebration: a vibrant colour palette, surprising patterns, custom attire, captivating floral designs, and more. We encourage couples to seek out vendors that fit with their values and find ones that they can trust to take a wild idea and make it into a reality.” Amanda explained.
“If you’re anything like our team of vendors, you’ve spent countless hours scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest and have found yourself saying, “This doesn’t look like me.” Consider sitting back to reflect on what things around you inspire you, what gets you excited. For us, it was Lisa Frank. It brought back visions of growing up carefree and wildly independent. It brought back visions of spending hours on the phone with your best friend, chatting about the latest fashions, music, and more. It got us excited. Our hope is that real couples can seek unexpected places to draw inspiration.”
