Izzy & Andy’s Naturally Pretty Winter Barn Wedding in Wick Farm at Bath
We love it when a photographer submits a real wedding to us, especially when the wedding is as gorgeous as this one photographed by Laura Michelle! Meet Izzy and Andy, a beautiful couple who got married just 3 days after Christmas! What an exciting time December must have been for them!
“The wedding was held at Wick Farm, a gorgeous, converted 17th Century threshing barn set within farmland just outside bath. We chose the venue because it was perfect for a winter wedding with a large amount of space inside. It is also a beautiful barn with old beams and the classic Bath stone!”
“We kept the décor to a real minimum as the barn is naturally very pretty. Our flowers were from The Rose Shed – they were actually flowering winter bulbs then we used a massive sprig of mistletoe to hang from the beams and the rest was just decorated with big candles and tea lights from Ikea. Of course as it was Christmas there was a Christmas tree already there!”
“We also kept colour to a minimum, everything was white with the green from the bulbs. With the amount of tea lights we had against all of the walls we got a really warming glow as the light reflected of the yellow bath stone.”
Our photographer, Laura Michelle was great! Right from the first meeting we felt confident that Laura was going to capture our day the way we wanted. The photos were excellent and documented everything from some more formal family shots to getting right into the middle of the dance floor once the beer was flowing! She is much more than just your average wedding photographer as everything is dealt with in an artistic way!
“We made the table numbers out of interesting numbers found using Google images and mounted them in photo frames. We used a large chalk board on a trestle and got someone with a steady hand and good art skills to draw the table plan.”
“The caterers (Strawberry Fields in Bath) produced some really amazing food. We didn’t want the traditional 3 course roast type meal (especially so close to Christmas) so we went for a ‘BBQ’ theme with steak, salmon, salads, sweet potatoes etc and then some amazing deserts. We have had so many brilliant comments about the food. Our cakes was also made by a friend!”
“Our band, The Groove Tones, were amazing. I would describe them as a mix between a jazz band and BBC livelounge style covers.”
“Our advice to future couples would be don’t let the wedding get on top of you. Overall we had quite a stress free build up, but I think that was because of the time of year we were doing it e.g. everything wasn’t already booked for other weddings. When we spoke to some of the suppliers the waiting lists for Summer weddings seemed crazy – so get in early if you want to risk the summer weather!”
