The Samling, Lake District

The Ned, City of London
With ten restaurants and bars – including a secret subterranean vault – a rooftop swimming pool, and a sprawling underground wellness centre that boasts its very own swimming pool, Moroccan hammam, nail bar, hair salon and barbershop, swanky members club and hotel The Ned is large enough to be a honeymoon destination in its own right.

The basement bars and restaurants are only accessible to members and hotel guests, meaning there are plenty of quiet corners to while away an evening – if you can tear yourself away from your bedroom, that is. Four-poster mahogany beds, marble fireplaces, glassed fronted drinks cabinets and standalone roll-top bathtubs make the vintage-style guest rooms some of the most romantic in London.
The Londoner Hotel, Leicester Square
Hoping to do for Leicester Square what The Ned did for the City of London, the newly opened Londoner Hotel is aptly named. Drawing Londoners back to a piazza that’s long been exclusive tourist territory, the 16-storey ‘super boutique hotel’ is home to 350 guest rooms and 35 suites as well as “some seriously flash amenities” and “zen-like spaces” – as described by Vogue.

Among them include six restaurants and bars, a wellness centre, a cinema, and a members’ club-style space that’s accessible only to hotel guests. Eight storeys sit above ground and eight below, with a hidden wellness sanctuary at the very bottom.

Cliveden, Berkshire
Hoping to feel like a princess on your honeymoon? Look no further than Cliveden. Boasting some serious royal pedigree – Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, and Lord Astor all visited, and Meghan Markle stayed the night before her wedding – this National Trust-owned property is arguably the headline act of Britain’s country house hotels.

Lympstone Manor Hotel, Devon
Another one for the foodies, Lympstone Manor is a Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel headed by Devon-born chef, Michael Caines MBE. Overlooking the tranquil Exe estuary – renowned for its candyfloss sunsets – the picture-perfect Georgian mansion puts fine dining at its heart with an a la carte and several tasting menus to choose from as well as afternoon tea and a wine tasting experience in the two basement cellars.
