“Oh I Do Like To be Beside the Seaside…”- A Shoot with the Fabulous Craig Dearsley!
We have been sooooooo excited to share these photos with you guys!! Our latest shoot was the brainchild of the god damn awesome Craig Dearsley, a fab photographer and husband to the equally talented and beautiful Veronica Dearly (You may remember her as the creator of ‘The Extra-Ordinarily Helpful Introduction to Planning a Wedding‘). We first met this uber cool couple at the Designer Vintage Wedding Show in Worcester last year. We instantly hit it off after having a very weird conversation about chairs and have kept in touch ever since.
When Craig asked if he could do a shoot with us we were a little shocked, who would want to take pictures of our ugly mugs?? But we trusted that he knew what he was doing, so we emailed back and forth for a couple of weeks with our ideas. We knew we wanted it to be at the seaside and after our rebrand we knew we wanted it to be more about our individual styles and personality. Thankfully Craig was totally on the same wavelength and these were the photos as a result.
The shoot took place on the pier of Weston Super Mare on a beautifully sunny (but still a tad nippy!) day. We were lucky enough to be joined by Andy Turner owner of ‘Lovebus Weddings’ and this cute little camper van and the gorgeous makeup artist Grace Kingsley – lets face we were going to need all the help we could get to make these faces photogenic!
Craig and Veronica had got to Weston earlier that day and like true pro’s had spent the morning wandering around looking for the best locations to do the shoot. We really couldn’t have asked for a better little team than these guys, showing us where to stand and positioning us so that we at least looking like we knew what we were doing. I don’t think I have ever laughed as much as what I did that day and by the end of it my face physically hurt.
Andy sadly had to leave us later that day to become a superhero (he is a firefighter at the local fire station, which I think most definitely should be under the category of superhero!) but we were truly thankful that he made the time to come and help us out.If you are looking for some extra special transport for your wedding day then we couldn’t recommend ‘Lovebus weddings’ highly enough, they quite literally will go that extra mile to help you out and make your day as wonderful as they can.
We also couldn’t thank Grace enough for enduring the cold day with us, touching up our makeup, trying to control our windswept hair and holding our bags and coats. Grace was so much fun and entertained me all day with stories about my current favourite tv programme ‘Broadchurch’. If you haven’t heard of ‘Broadchurch’ then you are missing out. I have been raving about it in our ‘Off the Record’ and on Twitter for weeks now. Grace has a great poker face though and would not give anything away about the ending which I am secretly glad about because the suspense has been great!
Hey check it out – the last four photos were the handy work of Craig’s assistant and beautiful wife, Veronica – totally loving the retro vibe!
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Craig, Veronica, Grace, Andy and his wife Hayley for all their hard work in making this shoot happen. You helped create something totally personal to me and Jess and helped to capture everything Bespoke Bride is all about, fun, creativity and character. We honestly couldn’t have done it without you and we had a total blast!
Much bespoke love!
Emily ♥
