We Love This Vintage Spring Styled Shoot at Midway Arches in Western Chester County
Restoring the light to the Victorian era St. Cecelia’s Church through its recent revitalization into the incredible Midway Arches was the perfect backdrop for our vintage, modern spring-themed photo shoot. This up-and-coming venue in Chester County is quite a sight to behold. With soaring ceilings in the main ballroom, an intimate cocktail hour space and an incredibly spacious groom’s lounge and bridal suite make this dream location for anyone looking to tie the knot! For our shoot, we wanted to showcase the versatility of this remarkable venue by presenting alternative set-up styles and locations.
Our shoot was held on the official first day of spring: March 20th, 2023, and the happiness that came along with that beautiful spring day was manifested by all the vendors who made this shoot exquisite was remarkable.
The Styled Shoot Concept
The concept was for our couples to be a visual representation of love’s luminosity. The light our couples have brought into each other’s lives behind the camera is vivid and real. Getting to choose one another from this day forward over and over again each spring to revel in the joys of each other and the season.

The vision was to create an airy theme while blending vintage and modern styles that captured the radiance of spring, with color and aesthetic. We also rejuvenated life into some old lampshades for décor. A few coats of Sherwin Williams paint along with some elbow grease allowed these once drab items to emit a new glow and they are present throughout the entire shoot.
The Photographer
We had the privilege of collaborating with an all-star troupe of wedding creatives. Andrea Krout Photography with her vibrant and genuine style of shooting was a perfect match for the vision we wanted to capture. We also had the honor of having live storytelling by the awesomely talented team of videographers from Valley Creek Productions.
The shoot’s concept was manifested by the mastery of Topiary219 through their flowers, greenery, plants and floral artistry. For the ceremony, we wanted to bring the outside in and for our couple to feel as if they were strolling through a spring meadow and into their lives together.
The Florals
The greenery with pops of color from the florals and the lampshades made our wedding couple seemingly float towards each other. As our couple meandered through the aisle the flowers and decor crescendo at the altar coupled with the simplicity of the historic windows as the backdrop allowing the day’s light to flow in.
Recessing down the aisle our couple was joined by a pair of the most adorable Russian Tumbler Pigeons from HappiNest. The smiles and joy these two feathered beauties brought to everyone’s faces as they cooed joyful wishes to our couples were blissful.
As all the magic was being created in the ballroom our models were whisked away to their own respective getting-ready areas. The girls met up with Rachel, owner of It’s Your Beauty Call, who assembled in the renewed bridal suite and from the onset of the day Rachel’s passion for caregiving and beauty was evident as she helped all three of our models look their very best throughout the duration of the shoot.
The Sweets
While in the bridal suite, the girls were treated to the most darling mimosa bar-styled Posh Vintage Rentals and sweets from KP Cakes which included an array of mini cakes, cupcakes, madeleines, cookies, and scones. The French Macarons matched the color scheme to perfection, the Madeleines delicate powdered sugar melted in your mouth and the mini vanilla cake truffles covered in a colorful candy shell were scrumptious, it was a true sensory delight.
In the groom’s lounge, the wonderful barbershop team at All Star Images was ready to give our groom some last-minute touch-ups to ensure he was looking sharp. Once the manscaping was complete our groom got in a quick game of chip and putt on JB Gigs vintage game and tried his hand on Midway Arches foosball table. When it was dressing time, he adorned a dashing blue suit that came from Eagle Formal Wear who has been outfitting those needing to look their best for over 30 years.
The Gowns
Our brides wore stunning gowns from the curated selection at Ever After a boutique bridal shop in West Chester, PA. The gowns worn by our beautiful models include two from Sincerity Bridal collection, the Lottie gown by One Styled Bride and the Odessa gown from LIV by Kelly Faetanini.
The Stationary
The invitation suite Fox, Quill and Paper crafted encompasses everything there is to feel about the first few beautiful weeks of Spring. Soft pops of mossy green, feminine pink, and stormy blue envelope these delightful details of the stationery. Silk ribbon hugs the wildflower toile print on the vellum jacket that holds all pieces of the suite nicely together. Sweet details like butterflies’ float from piece to piece connecting the entire suite together.
We thankfully had family-owned and operated, Doe Run Catering, not only prepare the delicious food selections you see in the photos but also kept any day of hunger pangs at bay with an amazing assortment of munchies for the vendors. Their kitchen has been up and running through three families and six generations! While their dedication is timeless, their flavors are constantly evolving and changing with each season.
Midway Arches director of sales and events, Jane Darnell, was on-site throughout the whole day satisfying to our every need. She has been carefully overseeing the renovation of this exceptional space for the past several years and puts her heart and soul into every single event that comes through its front doors.
The Cake
Atop the original altar was yet another of the photoshoot stunners: the fabulous cake! Crafted by Tiffany Bey of Cupcakes at Tiffany’s, she worked side by side the Topiary219 team to create the most epic cake table you have ever seen. With the tantalizing cake nestled into the waterfall of greenery and florals it was almost too good to slice into!
The Décor
Décor throughout the entire shoot was a teamwork effort brought forth by Posh Vintage Rentals, The Party Center, and JB Gigs. Posh Vintage Rentals showcased their incredible heirloom pieces such as their radiant rouge armchairs, stackable luggage, typewriter, writing desk, mismatch China, stunning lagoon blue goblets and so many more. All of the vintage items you saw from the photos came from Posh Vintage Rentals inventory. The Party Center graciously lent us their gorgeous cross back chairs and display trays. JB Gigs provided the lift for the reception centerpiece and come evening enveloped the room with elegant uplighting and personalized gobo’s. The tables were all adorned with linens provided by Choice Party Linens.
We made sustainable choices throughout the day as we repurposed the florals and greenery from each vignette which all vendors were on board with helping move which was truly a team effort!
The designer behind the shoot who also brought all these masters of the wedding industry together and kept the day running incredibly efficiently was the ever-talented and supremely organized, Tara Thistlethwaite from Engaged Event Management.
We sincerely hope you enjoyed these images; they were beyond fun to create and here’s hoping everyone has a great spring!
