Food DIY: How To Make Portuguese Lemonade!
You know what they say, when life gives you lemons…make lemonade! And since the weather has been miserable over here lately I thought I’d cheer myself up with a refreshing summer drink! (you can totally add vodka too if you so fancy!)
This drink is one of mine and my sister’s favorite choice of beverages in Mexico, if you want it you have to order a ‘Mexican lemonade’ but it turns out the recipe is actually a Portuguese and Spanish one!
You will need: (serves 2)
♥ 1 Lemon
♥ 1 Lime
♥ Half cup of sugar
♥ 3 and a half cups of water
Step 1: Chop the limes and lemons into quarters, then into halves again.
Step 2: Add them to the blender. (yep! Skins and all!)
Step 3: Pour the sugar into a small cup until it reaches half way.
Step 4: Add the sugar to the blender.
Step 5: Using the same cup, add 2 and a half cups of water.
Step 6: Blend it all up on a high speed for approx 10 seconds (The longer you blend it, the more bitter it becomes!) Don’t worry if there are still chunky bits in the mixture.
Step 7: Pour the liquid through a sieve into a jug
Step 8: Add the liquid back into the blender with an additional cup of water and blend for a few seconds
Step 9: Serve over ice with a slice of lemon!
Yum!! So refreshing! All we need now is for the sun to come out…
Much Bespoke Love
