Dreaming of an Ibiza Wedding? See Duncan & Pieta’s Cap Des Falco Magic!
Subtle simplicity is the only way I can think to describe the wedding of Duncan and Pieta who married last September at Cap Des Falco in Ibiza. The couple decided to cut back on the details and focus more on the experience of their day keeping decor and colour simple and rustic to fit in with the theme of their location. Here Pieta tells us her story…
“We both love the island and adore the rustic oceanside location set in a nature reserve – the sunset here is the best on the island. Duncan is from the UK and I’m from NZ, so we wanted somewhere that was neutral ground. Plus we invited our 100 guests to stay for the week, and Ibiza catered for everything we wanted. The team at Caps Des Falco were brilliant as was the venue & reception restaurant.
We really focused more on making our wedding an experience and less on small details as we didn’t think anyone would notice. To achieve that we decided to really embrace the culture of Ibiza. We had a Bossa Nova spanish guitarist play for our guests while they waited for me to arrive. We chose natural flowers such as Lavender and Rosemary and food & wine that were from the island itself which consisted of fresh fish for our main and local spanish Cavas with red & white wines. Our whole wedding & reception was held al fresco – so the décor was very simple but emphasising the beauty of the oceanside setting. The colours consisted of lots of natural sandy beige, whites, greens and golds. Our wedding planner was Serena from Deliciously Sorted, she did a wonderful job of arranging it all for us. When planning a wedding aboard in a country you don’t speak the language, Serena’s team were worth their weight in gold.
One of our favourite DIY ideas were the table names which we named after special places that Dunc & I had visited together. We also hand wrote our guests names on travel tags and slotted them into the top of a green lime ( as it’s stand ) – we saw this online somewhere and loved the idea. Our wedding invites were Airline Boarding Cards, and given everyone had travelled to be there for us – we liked the subtle travel theme, hence the travel tag for their table place name. Our ‘cake’ was actually a wedding cake Pinata filled with old school sweets. We loved bashing the hell out of it, good entertainment for the guests too. It was like a lolly scramble once it burst open, guests loved it.
My dress was a Pronovias one-off that I bought in New Zealand, I thought it was a bargain as when I bought it, it had 60% off! My Shoes were Jimmy Choo silver/gold slingbacks, and Duncan’s suit was a Richard James from Saville Row with Church dark brown shoes. I found the bridesmaid dresses from an online store called ‘Myriad 6’. They were brilliant soft silk jersey maxi dresses which could be tied in a variety of ways, so comfortable and cheap!! ( I even bought a couple for myself! ), the girls loved them too.
We had 2 photographers to capture us getting ready, but also ensuring everything was captured .. Both photographers were amazing ( Arno Lippert & Maria Simon ) – she was everywhere but not there ( if you know what I mean, like a fly on the wall ), we wanted everyone to feel relaxed and not have to pose for photos, we wanted to capture the essence of the experience and she did that perfectly. Everyone just looks so happy.
If I could give any advice to couples getting married in the future it would be to agree from the start that you will both have fun with it. Don’t take it too seriously and always remember it’s about you both & your incredible journey together. Too many couples have a stressful time organising their special day which is sad, the whole process should be amazing from beginning to end. Live everyday like it’s your last. Also stick to your budget and don’t be swayed by the ‘extra costs’ – ask yourself ‘do we really need this?’.. We stuck to our budget and are so happy with our decisions to not sweat the small detail ( that no one would notice anyway ). We focused on the best setting, good food, excellent wine, flowing bar all night and amazing music/DJ & dancing under the stars. Oh and we had a ‘no-kids’ policy – which meant we had a 100 delinquent friends without kids running around Ibiza having the time of their lives. Best time ever!”

Tips and Ideas for Planning an Unforgettable Ibiza Wedding
Ibiza might be famous for its world-renowned nightlife, but it’s also one of the most breathtaking and romantic places in Europe to say “I do.” With its turquoise waters, dramatic sunsets, and effortlessly cool vibe, the island offers an ideal setting for couples dreaming of a stylish, sun-soaked celebration. Planning your Ibiza wedding can be an incredible experience if you know how to navigate the logistics and embrace the island’s laid-back charm. Here are some essential tips and inspiring ideas to help you craft the perfect day.
1. Choose the Right Time of Year
Timing is everything. The best months for an Ibiza wedding are May through October, with July and August being the hottest and busiest. If you’re hoping for more availability and lower costs—without sacrificing the sunshine—aim for late spring or early autumn. September, in particular, offers glorious weather and slightly fewer tourists, giving you the best of both worlds.
2. Select a Venue That Reflects Your Style
One of the joys of an Ibiza wedding is the sheer variety of venue options. From cliffside villas and whitewashed fincas to beach clubs and bohemian beach coves, there’s a spot for every couple’s vibe. For a relaxed barefoot ceremony, beaches like Cala Conta or Cala d’Hort are popular. Prefer luxury and seclusion? Opt for a private estate or boutique hotel in the hills of San José or Santa Gertrudis.
Many couples rent a villa for the weekend and turn their wedding into a three-day celebration with welcome drinks, pool parties, and brunches—all with those famous Balearic views as your backdrop.
3. Hire a Local Wedding Planner
Unless you’re based on the island, working with a local planner is a smart move. Ibiza wedding planners have the insider knowledge to help you find trustworthy vendors, secure permits, and design a seamless event. They’ll also help with translating documents and navigating local customs, which can be tricky if you’re unfamiliar with Spanish bureaucracy.
4. Make It Your Own
There’s no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to an Ibiza wedding. The island embraces creativity and self-expression, so lean into what feels right for you. Want a barefoot beach ceremony at sunset with a chill acoustic guitarist? Go for it. Prefer a glamorous white party at a cliffside villa with a DJ and cocktails? Also perfect.
Many couples incorporate local touches like olive branches, dried florals, or woven straw decor to tie into the island’s natural aesthetic. Ibiza’s essence lies in its freedom—embrace it.
5. Don’t Forget the After-Party
Ibiza weddings often don’t end with the last dance. This is, after all, the party capital of Europe! From moonlit beach bonfires and silent discos to private DJ sets at your villa, there’s no shortage of ways to keep the celebration going. Some couples even charter a boat the next day for a “recovery cruise” with their closest guests.
6. Legal or Symbolic?
Most international couples opt for a symbolic ceremony in Ibiza and handle the legal paperwork at home. This simplifies the process and gives you full creative freedom over the ceremony itself. However, legal Ibiza weddings are possible if specific requirements are met, particularly for Catholic or Spanish-resident couples.
Whether you’re planning a relaxed beach ceremony or a luxurious celebration in the hills, an Ibiza wedding promises beauty, romance, and memories that last a lifetime. Let the island’s magic work its charm, and your big day will be nothing short of spectacular.
